| Well had the wagon for a while now, and like all used vehicles it has needed stuff along the way, or things needed improvement. Gave it a couple of good baths, inside and out, engine comaprtment, frame rails, bottom of the doors etc. Moved on to painting stuff that had surface rust (so everything would stay nice). Radiator support, wheel-wells (front and back), floor pan seams, gas tank straps, battery tray, etc. Next tackled the PITA job of tightening up a loose tilt steering column. (you only need a few tools.......like your whole tool box ) I was'nt happy with how warm the temp gauge was getting on some of the first hot days wew were having. Checked it out and the old brass radiator was looking pretty thin, and the water-pump was seeping. Put in a new(well almost new) radiator, new water pump, and a 160 t-stat. Flushed the cooling system a couple of times. Perfecto Next, decided I did'nt like the fact that it did'nt have an aux trans cooler, soo... I bolted in one form a 9C1, got some adapters, and made my own trans cooler lines When that was done I gave it a 16 qt transfusion flush (highly recommend this BTW) Next up was the exhaust. The stocker was just waaay too quiet. Started right from the manifolds. Of course the studs the attach the Y-pipe broke right off as soon as I touched them. Heated up the manifolds with a torch and extracted them. Replaced the studs, and used brass nuts. Installed a 3" 9C1 Y-pipe, 3" Cat, 2.5" intermed pipe, welded summit muffler, and tail-pipe (deleted the resonator), then painted it all with high heat BBQ black paint. Sounds good now On to the suspension.... Found a broken front sway-bar link, and whatever the front shocks were, sucked big time! Replaced the links with new poly ones, and threw in some KYB gas-adjust font shocks. Ok, now it does'nt feel like it want to bounce into the other lane. Done some other stuff along the way, cleaned and adjusted the rear brakes, got the tailgate to open in both positions, replaced the passenger window switch, got the "old people" carpet and glue off the dash, replaced the coludy drivers headlight assem with a good one I had.........oh and put on some white letter 235-70-15's. Getting there Now need to to HID's and tint | |

| I always liked the sawblade wheels on those. It's lookin' sharp! How does it ride with the KYBs compared to Bilsteins? I have a set of those same KYBs I'm considering using in the Caprice instead of my Bilsteins... | |

| Slap some big white walls on the OCC wheels and call it a day. How well did the steering column fix work out? My fleetwood actually had one of the tilt pins backout on me. | |

Steering column came out fine, then again I've probably done a 100 of them. Very common on cars that older people have owned, due to the fact that they use the wheel to pull themselves in and out of ther car. You do need a couple of speciality tools.

Bilsteins are a better shock all around, KYB's are stiffer and work well in a stock height suspension with a soft stock spring. The KYB's did'nt work well at all in the lowered L99

Maybe I'll give the KYB's a shot in the Caprice...it's got the soft flabby springs in it and I probably won't be lowering it for now...and if I do, I can put the Bils in.
