| Wow, I noticed the traffic on inegma had slowed tremendously over the last few months, now I know why! I just discovered this site today. I see a few familiar names here. Well, back in Aug of '07, my fuel pump died in the ol' "fun 9c1", and it has been sitting in my driveway, dead since then. I drove the wagon for a while (BTW, still have the same 9C1, L99, and RMW that I had before), then gas went to $4/gal and I paid $1000 for an old 36mpg Camry and have been driving that, too. Anyway, I got bit by the bug to get Ol' Statey (as I've come to call her) back on the road. It needed a A/C delete pulley, windshield, radiator, battery, and fuel pump. Did the fuel pump and pulley, and I'm halfway done with the radiator. All in the last 3 days. My question is: I noticed that my primary fan doesn't work anymore, and I'm almost positive it worked when I parked it. Is it because I ripped out the A/C compressor? I know the compressor and primary fan have some sort of relationship but don't know exactly how it works. I also have the "Scott whats-his-name manual fan mod" that I did quite a few years ago. The secondary fan still works. What do you guys think? | |

| The fan itself could be bad. I've replaced a couple. Try the secondary in the primary location.
I got a direct plug in replacement from Advance Auto for around $30.

| Is that really you Rob? That is really awsome. Anyways to answer your question. Have you disconnected the temp sensor on the water pump To see if both fans do work, or is this how you come to this conclusion? Your fans are both controled by the pcm. The fan will work for overheating only now. |

As far as the fan goes, try hitting it with 12v & grd... I bet it's no good. Like Jim said, replacements are cheap at the Zone. See ya at the mod day today????

| Hi guys, thanks for the replies! Good to be back. How was mod day? I didn't know about because I literally JUST discovered this site like 5 minutes before I posted my post. I wouldn't have been able to go anyway because I'm working this weekend 12hr night shifts. YUK! Thanks to all 3 of you for the advice. 3 years ago I would have known all that.... Damn it's been so long since I wrenched on my car for fun that I've forgotten 3/4 of what I used to know about our cars. A new radiator will go in in the next day or two, then it's just a new batt and windshield and she'll be ready for the road (and NED). A couple of us at work here are trying to organize a Westinghouse drag day at NED this summer. We're thinking June 24 right now. I'm not sure if there's a whole lot of interest here but I'm trying to talk a couple guys at least into going. One has a brand new WRX that I'd like to see what it does. And one has a newer Eclipse that I'd love to shut him up about. | |

| Yup, turns out the primary fan is bad. It has "dead spots" where it won't work in certain positions. If I change the position of the fan, the motor kicks in, and it works. I did the ol' Scott Mueller "manual fan" mod a few years ago, so I was able to just switch them on and off at will to test em out. Thanks for the advice. I'll grab a new pair of fans this weekend. | |
