Hey guys,
I finnally found a little bit of footage from my 24 Hours of Lemons race.
https://youtu.be/oyWJiDkrjtQ?t=20m44s
I skipped ahead to 20:44 of the video. You'll see my #999 Cutlas come into view in turn 1 of the next lap. The Camera car does it's best to follow for the next few laps, but just can't do so. The Cutlass clearly has a wheelman inside of it

No contact allowed whatsoever. Any contact = black flag.

?
Contact is for retards and rednecks with no race craft. --
Why would you want to be allowed to smash into people? This is endurance racing... Not a sprint race at the local dirt oval.

not for retards ...... figure you would be allowed to nudge people out of the way. no contact at all is stupid, but i guess it makes the race fair for our emotionally weak drivers.
...... again steve .... I only live here.... i was born a MASShole and i'll die a a Masshole

Nudge people out of the way? That is ONLY permitable in NASCAR and Short-Track racing.
In every other racing series in the world, that action would be punishable by penalty. In sports car racing (and F1), it's the faster cars obligation to find a way through cleanly. Any unavoidable contact is ILLEGAL in EVERY racing series (except NASCAR).
Contact is extremely dangerous and very expensive. Beyond that, lemons racing is full of inexperience drivers and the LAST thing they need to promote is bumping and banging.
In fact, it's emotionally weak, unskilled, and impatient drivers only who are in favor of bumping. If you're good, you can get through clean.

I gotcha man.
There are a few very important reasons why contact isn't allowed. First and foremost is safety.
NASCARs these days are virtually indestructible. NASCAR drivers in 2011 can go Head on into a wall at 200MPH and walk away.
Sports cars and lemons cars, are far far far far less durable. Even a minor nudge on a road course, can turn into an 80MPH spin, which can turn into a rollover, which can turn into a fire. Guess what happens when an out-of-shape amateur flips his home-made race car and then bursts into flames? Not good.
--
The second reason is because most sports car racing teams are very poorly funded. Allowing bumping and contact is literally asking for cars to be smashed. Guess what happens when a team full of broke people gets their only car smashed? They can't race anymore. If that happens enough times, there are no more drivers left.
---
The last reason is because a smashed car is a car that isn't being raced. If you get spun by some impatient asshole, then all of a sudden your race is ruined. Racing is a gentlemens sport and sportsmanship is very important. The goal is to go out and show how fast you can drive a car; not how many people you can bash out of your way.
