Feeler: 4 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZR on SS wheels

I am thinking about selling my Nittos and SS wheels that I have on the Caprice. They make the car look mean and I like them a lot, but I moved and don't really have the room for two sets of tires and wheels for this car, let alone room for the car. I get a lot of compliments when I have the thin-whites and center caps on there anyway.

So that being said, I got these tires from Doug about a year ago, maybe more, when they only had about 1000~ miles on them. They probably have about 7-8K on them now maybe less, I'll have to see what I wrote down in my log (as I swapped them on and off). Maybe 70 to 80% tread left on them? The wear is pretty even all around, two of them have slightly more on the edges of both sides from probably being the ones Doug ran on the front before me, or I have had them on the front more times than the back or something, but they're not even bad. I've heard mostly good reviews on these about tread life, if you rotate the hell out of them like you're supposed to, they will last.
They are 255/50/17. He had bought them new, and retail these tires ran anywhere from 150 to 200 bucks a tire depending on where you bought them. They are really nice looking tires, they don't have any stupid crap designs all over the sidewalls, and the tread pattern is awesome. These are almost like a drag radial basically, the pattern is very blocky with directional tread. I cannot break them loose with my Caprice, not that I beat on the car or the tires, but this is a granny Caprice with one tire fire that likes to spin the rear pass. side wheel. That says something. It corners great with them on as well, and that is with god knows how old apparently stock FE1 suspension with no rear sway bar. Rain performance is about average for a wide low profile tire. The compound of the tire seems pretty soft, so combined with the blocky design they get nicks and scratches in the tread from driving every so often but it's ever changing.

These tires are very quiet considering how wide they are. It's pretty funny when you're driving with the windows down and you compare the tire noise to other cars going by on the highway. The tires also have a huge rim protector built into the sidewall.

For full disclosure, one tire has a plug in the middle of the tread because I picked up a nail. It effected it in no way driving-wise, and you can't even tell where the plug was anymore because it melded into the rubber of the tire, although I left a mark with a red grease pen on the sidewall to show the location.
If you autocross or just want really grabby tires for whatever reason, they are worth a look. Since they are directional tread, they do track a little and have to be rotated more often since they can't be swapped to the other side of the car, but I lived in an area of bad, crappy, maintained by corrupt hack infrastructure that pretty much fails at life, so whenever I drive up to NH, etc, the car handles perfect! Even where I live now it's a thousand times better.

As far as the wheels, they are in good overall shape. I have the bowtie caps on them from a Wimpala I found in a junkyard, they are the chrome bowtie with the checkerboard background.
They are not perfect but on par with any you'd find used on CL, etc. They are fine for a daily driver or if you want to snazz up a non-SS a little. One of the wheels has a weird dried up clearcoat issue, not from corrosion, but the very top outer layer of clear or whatever has aged and is flaking off the wheel. It almost appears that you could just powerwash the wheel, then lightly sand it and reclear it with parts store clearcoat. It's odd, but not very noticeable unless you're right up on it.
The other three are better, with average swirls and scratches, maybe a little curb rash (not big gashes or anything), the usual. The clowns at Town Fayah Tiyah put regular wheel weights on them when I requested stick-ons hidden in the back, but hey, they're balanced...

I'm pretty much OCD, so my plan with these was to have Rim Pro redo the one "worse" wheel when I felt like it, then maybe decide what the next worst one was after that and so on (unless RimPro gives a discount for more than one wheel at once), and have the weights redone as stick ons as I went around. I just never bothered.

Honestly I would probably keep them if you could run wide tires like this in the snow. It just wouldn't be practical for me. That, and like I said, I don't have the room, and now I have another truck that I'm going to need to do some work to, so to free up some liquid cash would be nice.

I really don't know what I'd ask for them, and this is a "feeler" but considering that they are already mounted on SS wheels with centercaps ready to swap on and the tires are kinda high end, I'm thinking 600 for everything would be a good asking price TBH. If no one here wants them, I'd probably just keep them or try Craigslist. I have no problem keeping them!

Yea, I just realized I never took a head on shot of this car with the SS wheels on it.

These tires were, by far, the best tires I have ever ran. If I didn't already have 6 tires with good tread I would grab these back as spares. GLWS, whoever gets them will not be disappointed.

Thanks Doug. I remember you repeating how much you liked them, and I do too. I get a ton of compliments, and have even had offers from friends to buy my car simply because I have these tires on it. I kinda feel I might be asking too much for everything but I dunno, I think they're pretty nice tires and the wheels are decent too for the overall asking price? Maybe there's just no one who wants these wheels right now. LOL
I've been driving the car with these the last couple days because of the stupid POS Tahoe brakes and I still never get used to how well they corner/stick to the road. The skinny tires I run in the winter grip okay because mine have ridiculously deep tread, but they'd make a ton of noise and scrub across the road when doing so...haha.

Are those BFGs everyone hates directional tread? What is the issue with them again?

Like I said, this is a feeler, but I dunno, lately with the truck business and everything else I think I'd rather have some money than wheels. I'm still split.

I don't really want to break them down, like I said 600 asking price for everything but if someone is interested, obviously shoot me a PM if you have a proposal, worst I can say is no, lol.

I'd probably want a little more than 300 each for the price of the tires or wheels sold loose/apart just because of the pain in the ass factor, and I don't want to cover the cost of breaking them down, that would be up to the buyer.

Unfortunately, I dont need another set of wheels.
The BFG just wander. They wear hard (I've got 50K ea out of 2 sets)
but theyre slicker then shyt in the wet.
Anticipating the release either wet or dry is easy enough, but after 4 sets, I've just had enough of them.

These kinda wander too on bad rutted-pavement roads because they're directional, but I don't know if they're as bad as the BFG? These supposedly wear pretty good too, I've heard of people getting almost that out of them, they're probably a little stickier. These are a little slick in the rain because the tread is so blocky, but considering my car is non-posi they didn't seem terrible overall.

LOL. Everyone knows I am a long-winded guy in person, are you surprised?

If it sweetens the deal for anyone out there, I will accept a set of N97s with good tires on them as a partial trade toward this set of wheels and tires, it's okay if there are no center caps or wheel trim for them, I have the truck center caps. Might consider other things like a set of Caprice lace alloys with nice tires on them, etc. Try me. Prob. tossing on CL tonight or tomorrow for the hell of it. Let me know.
