Noticed my rear brakes were grinding a little and decided to pull the wheels and do an inspection.
Well i guess i should been paying attention when i read about slide pin maintenance.
Took the drivers side wheel off and took the caliper off the bracket = 2 bolts EASY
Then i took off the 2 bolts that hold the bracket in place=EASY
Pull top slider pin =easy.Pull bottom slider pin =NOT EASY That sucker was rusted solid to the bracket.
I don't think anything short of the torch was getting that thing out.
No big deal i had kept the brackets and pins from my 94 9c1 just had to find them.
Got looking at the pads and there was plenty of material left.
but one side had come unglued and fell off when i pulled the caliper,.
No big deal go to parts store, new pads, back home, pull passenger wheel
UH OH.
one side of the pads is GONE and metal to metal with the rotor.
Looks like the rotors ok but the caliper is FROZE UP.Lower pin is rusted solid too.
SO drivers side is good to go, Passenger needs new caliper and 1 slide pin could have been worse.
LIVE AND LEARN Routine maintenance FIRST.
PS i was pleasently surprised how easy it was to change pads etc.
