| I got a '69 big block 396 making 425HP I've been seriously contemplating putting into my wifes black 93. LoL - think single digit gas mileage wouldn't be good on a daily driver! But I'd get to work pretty quick! | |

| I pulled 22 MPG out of my last tank, trying to get it higher. I made a couple changes in my driving, going like 60-65 on the highway, letting off the brake from a stop then waiting a second for the car to start rolling on it's own before accelerating, accelerating gently from stops when possible, etc. I basically started driving as if I were taking a Greyhound bus driver exam...lol. It matters Not to be a dick, but not caring about gas prices is why these clowns can keep raising them on us. No one cares so they set the price however they want. It's just like a George Orwell novel. Although I mainly blame the stupid beeyotches that leave cars needlessly idling, park in fire lanes, and what have you. I'll never drive a ghey Prius, or any femme car like that, but I'm definitely going to make some changes if it's 5 bucks a gallon and I think anyone saying they won't will change their mind if it happens. You can drive a B-body responsibly and still have low ownership costs. I don't get the people who fret over MPG and ignore overall OWNERSHIP costs, that's what matters. My Caprice is cheaper to own than most cars that get better MPG. My damn insurance is like nothing per year, and that's with comprehensive fire and theft, towing up to 100 bucks, just no collision, but people hit me instead of me hitting them so.... I wonder what MPG a Cummins 4bt or Duramax would make in a Caprice...

I wonder what MPG a Cummins 4bt or Duramax would make in a Caprice... Cummins 4bt would be nice....duramax would be too fun to try and get MPGs with lol And For me my car is a summer cruiser, a fun car, part of my hobby. I'm not driving it everyday of the year and last summer I still had to cougar to drive because I was afraid the control arms would go at first haha. But when I say I'm not changing I mean I wont give up this car for anything. Its my hobby and I love it. I don't plan on getting a Prius either, and yeah I care about 5 bucks a gallon, but honestly, the B-body is for fun not mileage when im driving it. Maybe I'll get a ricemobile to drive when the cougar expires, but I'm not giving up my hobby for a few bucks more at the pump. | |

| I know that, I'm just saying people should kinda use their heads when it comes to gas usage more. You don't really need to change anything with your car if you can drive to save gas until the prices come back down (I'm sure they will, this is all BS pricing based on speculation, complete crock of crap) My car has a 2.56 rear and is NOT built for in-town use, so I have to do what I can. I have no idea why GM put this stupid ratio in anything. People will argue, but you don't get anywhere faster by tailgating, going 10 MPH faster than everyone else, going 85 MPH on Route 95 instead of a realistic 73 MPH or so to avoid Staties, not letting off the gas as soon as you see a red light up ahead, putting your engine up to 2500 RPM whenever you take off (with a low rev V8), it's all pointless. End of story. Sure, somebody MIGHT get someplace like 4 minutes before me if they blow all the gas out the tailpipe trying to beat me there, but what the F are they going to do that MATTERS in that 240 seconds? Play with themselves? Pick their nose? Get some McChickens and get to the drive thru window 2 cars before me? LOL
Today I took Route 62 from Danvers to Wilmington via N. Reading. Some guy in a plumbing van with NH plates was kinda sorta booking it ahead of me and disappearing from view while I tooted along at the speed limit or a little over, like 35, the whole way. Every time we had to stop I was right behind this guy again in a matter of seconds. Then he'd tear ass away from me. Wtf? Dude probably spent any money he made charging 749834539375 dollars to put a Fluidmaster in some idiot's toilet on the gas he used to get back to NH. Was he driving erratic? Not really, maybe slightly, not actually being a jerk or anything. Would he have saved a ton of gas if he just calmed the F down? Yea...it was a Ford van too. Fords get terrible MPG compared to Chevys!
