| Heres the qoute: " "The Treasury Department plans to sponsor a program to insure the warrantees on any new GM or Chrysler car purchased during the restructuring period, even if the companies collapse."

| Interestingly, I'm one of the most conservative people I know.
Stem Cell research was essentially the only thing G.W.B and I disagreed on. --
As far as my school goes, they do their best to drill change into our heads, but I ain't havin it.

| It'll be the same as those with service plans from Curcuit City. The claims will be handled by an outside company who is acting almost as a subcontractor. Just drive your Buick over to your local Volkswagen dealer for your warantee claims. | |

| I think the Circuit City deal is a little different.
When you buy a product from C.C. it comes with a manufacturer warranty. You can also spend the extra money to buy an extended warranty from a 3rd party company.
This has always been this way, even before they were going out of business.
In this instance, Circuit City offers no warranty on it's own, and this 3rd party company is getting paid by customers for it's warranty service.

For GM and Chrysler, that money is coming from the government and our pockets, whether we bought a car or not.

| You missed my point though. If GM goes under the goverernment won't send FBI agents to fix your car. They will subcontract through an established dealer network. That means those networks will bid on the contract to handle the repairs. The lowest bid will win the contract and the repairs will end up being done for that amount which is below the original cost. Overall it would be cheaper than having the government bail out GM for it's warantee claims at 100% of their value. | |

| I am personally watching this closely as I bought a new Jeep in 2008. As most of you know Chrysler has a lifetime power train warranty and they also offer a supplemental bumper to bumper warranty that I bought just for piece of mind for my family as I am away for long periods of time and I wanted to leave them with a dependable vehicle that can be repaired at little to no cost to us. I have done some research on this new warranty deal that has been enacted but I fear that it is not retroactive for the people that already have a warranty through the manufacturer or supplemental third party warranties.
Without going into a full out political rant I feel what is happening to our economy is rooted in pure greed and it is disgusting to me. Gone are the days of empathy and sympathy for our fellow man, the dollar makes the world go round not the people that make corporations the dollars that they so greedily demand more of. Changing this is the only change we need to focus on.
