PostSubject: Thank you very much every one.   Thank you very much every one. EmptySun Jan 31, 2010 9:10 am

I just wanted to thank everyone who pitched in to purchase Brads car. And to thank Jason for suggesting it in the first place.
I did not really think it would go this far, and had just considered the thought amazing. And to see people offering to pitch in just blew my mind, but to have the car in my yard weeks later, it almost brings a tear to my eye. So again, thank you. From the bottom of my heart.
It helped Brad as well, as he wanted to sell to buy an older car. Which buy the way I know what he bought. Very Happy But I ain't talking. silent

As for the car. It is as perfect as you could expect to find here in new england, and will work very well. And Thank you Brad for driving it up here. Wink
The plan is to remove the entire drivetrain. Engine to diff, suspension, fuel tank, front inner fender wells and coat the entire undercarrige with "Chassis Saver"

I will then strip the impala of its drivetrain, and suspension, which will be installed in the caprice.

Then the interior.

As for the exterior, I may look for someone with DCM impala stuff to trade for my black stuff, or just switch everything out and paint the car someday to match.

I will be selling some things off. I will make a list of things I plan on selling from both cars. It should not be too much.

The rest of the stuff not used or sold will be given away free to those who pitched in first, then the rest of the club. Again free, I will not be taking money from anyone.

I will be planning a mod day to do some of this if anyone is interested. Wink

Glad you guys made it back home safe and sound. Hopefully traffic wasn't too bad for you guys.

I call dibs on the stereo, speakers, and wheels if you don't keep them. I know you'll keep the stereo and speakers though Wink
I'll get the remote and manual to you at the get together so that you can figure out all them knobs and buttons Laughing

I'll have to come over and check out that new ride of yours, Bill. And I'm glad to here that things are turnin around for you. We all deserve a good break every now and again. Wish I could have helped getting you that car, but I'm about as money poor as it gets. Sad If you need any help swapping stuff out, just give a loud yell. I'm right down the road. cheers

Sounds like a plan, Billy! Smile

If there's one of us that deserved a lil help, it was you! Smile

Both cars are drivable, right? Maybe they could be driven somewhere that had the room to facilitate what you are trying to do?

Thanks everyone.
Yes both are 100% drivable. Of course Brad drops the caprice off with no oil, and one headlight. That bastige. Razz

The plan will be to drive both to a location I can do the conversion. That I have not figured out yet. scratch

Brad I do like the stereo, so it stays for the bodywork on your car at some point. And yes the N97s are yours if I do not keep them. I am thinking of keeping them as a winter tire to park it with.

Glad to see everything worked out. With my financial disast- I mean...status, I couldn't really afford to chip in, but if there is a mod day I'd def. be interested in coming up for that!

I'll get the manual and remote up to you at the get together. You can check out the body work project at that point.

As for what I delivered......
The car has both headlights and even both bulbs, and one even works Laughing
And there's plenty of oil in the trunk, but I still wouldn't use it Wink

The wheels I won't be looking for until I do the chassis conversion which wouldn't be until late summer early fall at best. I still need to get a few more parts to do it all. I really need to measure the bolt pattern though because some of those cars came with the bigger 5x5 bolt pattern as part of a chassis/suspension option package and I don't know if the car has that package or not.

No G6, and I have already bored you with the HHR.

Sdstick wants the wheels so you could shoot them to him so that you can have some money for registry crap. No sense waiting around for me since I'm still broke Laughing

The n97's are basic 5x5. Not an issue. Me and Billy were talking about my new (old) car's bolt pattern being different.

Brad, yours are going to be 4.75. Only limos, and police got the 5x5 patern back then.

I figured. Either way you should sell them wheels and trim and crap and get the registratrion done. Then you can drive your new beast around town some before it goes under the knife.

As far as I know...all 77-90 B-wagons were 5x5, and all the C-body cars (Electra, 98, RWD Cadillacs) were also 5" bolt pattern. I think there MIGHT have been an option for the larger bolt pattern as part of some HD thing for the B-bodies that wasn't quite a police package too but I'm not sure.

71-76 was 5" as well...which can be a pain for me, but I can use the bigger 2wd truck rallys on my car... Very Happy

Last year I had a set of the locking Caprice wire wheelcovers from a wagon with all the keys and the spider mount things for the lug pattern, I tried putting everything on my brother's black 89 but since it was a regular sedan, the mounts wouldn't work, and the hubcaps wouldn't stay on by themselves. Sold them on eBay!

That's right, wagons had the 5x5 bolt pattern.
