So do you just pay as you pull through the gates or do you pay at the front for a pit pass or something? I'd hate to pull into the back and then get in trouble for not paying the right people

If I remember correctly, the lady asked me if I was racing or not - I said not. She charged me a spectator fee, and waved me through. I just proceeded to drive into the pits as if my car was racing. Not sure if it's legal or not, but it works just fine. I will do the same this year.

In fact, the slower cars have a rather large advantage.

im bringing the buick. but im not going to race it. the last time i raced at that track was in 1968. when i had my 68 z28. im not even driving down. im going to be the passenger.

Yes, you can, as far as I'm concerned, but it will probably be only for the time trials. I know the ECIRS guys will not let let a non B-body compete in the actual brackets though.

Years ago, I used to break out all the time. I could not for the life of me get myself dialed in correctly. I would run fairly consitant 11.80-11.81 runs, pick 11.79, and then run 11.77 or as low as 11.72.
I then ran a 76 LTD Country Squire, and ran 17.56-17.57 consitantly. Then dial in a 17.55 and never break out.

Did we ever get a rough headcount of who was going? It'd be nice to know so that anyone looking to grab parts off someone else can remember to bring them.

I would love to go down!! Ive been racing mine this year and it hasn't done too bad, bone stock 246.000 miles and no posi rear, it would shift into second and spin almost the whole way down the 1/8th mile, i moved my spare over to the right side of the trunk and lowered the passenger side rear tire to 19lbs, we have only raced 3 sundays so far at winterport dragway and I made it to the finals yesterday and last sunday, got runner up both times but I won enough money to pay for my trip for the day and got a little extra. so much fun!!

At this point I'm like 80% sure i'm not gonna make it. Between my back feeling like it is and my car not being 100% I can't justify spending the money to go up there nor do I feel up to it at this point anyways.

I want to go to this, but like I posted before, I'm SUPPOSED to be going to some damn housewarming thing for one of my friends who just got a house down in Hyde Park. I obviously don't want to drive down to Hyde Park from where I live, it's a pain. If this falls through, I will be there and maybe try to get a few of my other friends to take their cars along just for the hell of it.

So when we get to the gates, we just tell the staff we are with the impala club? There is no pre-reg?

Track's gates open at 8am and racing starts at 9. We usually meet at the Burger King at the intersection of 125 and 101 in Epping at 7am. We'll roll out of there at 745 and make the short run together to the track. Stragglers can meet us at the gate. We usually park near the stands, against the fence. So Stake a Claim there if you get through tech first! I'll try to bring a grill and a cooler with waters and stuff. If someone has an Easy-Up, that'd rawk. IIRC, it's 25 bucks to get in.

Cost to sponsor the event is $200 and trophies are usually around $100. I normally eat the cost myself, but last year I asked for help and you guys really came through and made it a lot easier on my wallet. So I will ask the same again this year. If you'd like to chip in, even a little bit, it would be greatly appreciated!

We are meeting @ 07:00 as stated above. Thought is was worth repeating.

Sorry guys....last minute change of plans. Im racing at the Valley tomorow.

Too many of my guys wanted to run at epping, but since there is the impala event, they wanted to charge them 200.00 a piece to race....so Unfortunatley I am running at Lebanon.

Sorry guys, but last minute. I didnt know so many of my customers were racing this weekend and needing tuning assistance.
