| I’m looking for an earlier style running/not junk sbc 350 for the right price to go into an 80s B body. Carb/fuel system doesn’t matter as it’ll be replaced anyway. | |

| Update:
Ended up the guy I said who had one, had 3 305s. 2 of them were 90s TBI era (with the canted center intake bolts) and the other was a 78-85/6 305 stored inside but I wasn’t about to take a chance on a 305 that’s had the intake off for who knows how long.
So far, the 305 I took out of the 84 Impala is good, I took the heads off to have 5 snapped studs fixed and that was a no go. The guy just snapped them further in. Spent a couple hours last night (2am) at a friends house getting heads off an engine that had been sitting only to realize 2 bolts were already snapped off inside and then we had a spark plug that snapped its threads inside.
So that would’ve been cool to get my existing 305 back together for now on the low while I put more $ together for a no problems 350.. I purchased a new pro billet distributor and edelbrock performer intake in anticipation of this (to my disappointment) but, knowing all that stuff will swap to a 350 later makes it not a total waste. I can hear “you could’ve spent that $ on a 350!” BUT the reason for those purchases is the car I have is already setup and wired with an MSD EFI system.
Anyway. Called a well reviewed shop today and the guy didn’t really care to drill 2 studs out for me and told me they’d START at $110/hr each. So that’s a waste. I’d just buy reman’d heads for that but that type of money is a waste for what it is. “Money losing endevour” and asked WHY I’d be doing that to 305 heads.

| Did you ever find a 350? I have a short block that originally came from one of Indy's projects that got passed to me via Anthony. Long story short I want it outta the garage and if you can come get it soon it's yours. Otherwise my brother in law is getting it. I think Ant still has the heads too. | |

| I did find an engine tho it’s not what I wanted. It’ll work for now mainly because it’s 90% assembled and cheap. Known source. Known car. Low price. Can’t go wrong.
Thanks for the offer tho. I appreciate it. I’m just not looking to put together a whole engine at the moment and order all the gaskets, bolts, and other parts and whatnot.
Right now it’s about getting the car under its own power before winter so I don’t have a dead tub of parts in the driveway. | |
