| You should do black and gray with some ss wheels or equivalent.
There's a group of 9c1 caprices that were ordered like that as some state's governor's personal transportation unit. Looked pretty slick!
Or you can settle with, it kinda looks like a goodwrench car...

| I have a spare roll of foil tape if anyone needs it Burnt some midnight oil last night and got the drivers quarter welded in (finally!) My buddy came out with his small MIG and he cranked it out in about 10 minutes. Thin coat of bondo to fill in the weld and here we are: Just one small, half dollar spot inside the bottom C pillar to fill with some tiger hair and I will be DONE with bodywork. | |

| That looks great Justin. I do have two questions. Why black primer? Are you going with a dark color? With white, you are better off with light grey. Also, are you using a primer sealer? Regular primer will allow moisture if not finish coated. You need to go back over with a primer sealer asap, or you will have surface rust to contend with every place there is bare metal under the primer. The stuff I speak of | |

The stuff I speak of Thanks Bill. I went with black primer due to the fact that when I bought it all, Walmart, A-zone and Advance only had light grey "filler" primer which I was told isn't for shooting whole cars the only "normal" primer was the black. So I bought it, I didn't think it would be that dark once it dried. . The car hasn't left the garage since it's been primed nor am I driving it in the rain. After the roundup, its going back into the garage until the paint shop. Should I still put that sealer stuff down? $9/can isn't going to equal a low cost to spray the wagon.

Yes you should even if it is only over the areas that you know were bare metal or bondo. Primer colors are different colors because top coat colors are different. Sealer comes in different color based on manufacturer. Primer sealer fo less

| Yay! Great news. I hope to get mine in next summer. I'm gonna strip the whole thing so there's no questions after as well as over spray problems.
See if you can, or they can take during pics in the booth. It would be super cool to have the pics on a board or in a binder at car shows.

The Maaco in West Springfield is doing it. They were the best option for my budget. Most places wouldn't touch my car for under $1500. And from the people i've talked to, they are one of the few Maaco's that actually try to get the paint where it should be and not where it shouldn't. I'm interested to see how well they do. Also, I dislike Walmart. Was there the other day for some stuff for a home painting project when I saw this sitting with all the other spray paints: WTF?! It's not with all the other automotive supplies, and it was cheaper than the black primer!

| That's the stuff I use for All my projects. My wagon is half that color right now. They sell it in High build and sealer formulas too, all are like $4.77 a can. I just picked up two that were bonus 25% more cans of high build. Stuff goes on SOOO smooth and sands out like glass. When/if the rain stops I'm gonna try and get it all in one color lol.
When will we see the goods????

I'll grab a couple tomorrow. But its very smooth. Considering the reflection in the pics, I'm happy. Also, yes, I'd recommend the Maaco in West Springfield.

| Cool! It looks great in those pics! You need some different wheels ASAP lol.
Did they tell you that they weren't going to warranty the paint because you did your own body work? I stopped at the Maaco in Brockton a couple months ago, the guy told me it was going to be $1,100.00 for a ful respray, and that's if I bring it prepped already! I thought that seemed high, and he also told me there would be no warranty on the paint because id be prepping it myself..

And $1100 seems high, unless that was their base/clear package? I just did a single stage with "UV protection" whatever the fack that is.

Thanks Tim! I didn't, I think they just got carried away spraying the bumper. I'm going to take them off and spray them with some plastidip so they're black again. I plan to paint the spare well black too. Just need to get some heated garage time somewhere. - IMPALADAKID wrote:

Looks awesome BTW. Both were removed from when I did the body work. Unfortunately, the right one doesn't fit now as I didn't sand the contours quite rite so I'm going to have to rig something up. - toomanytoyz wrote:

(Dont like it? peeeeel it off) Don't be skimpy, coat them good or it wont actually peel off. You'll have to rub all of it off as it wont form big sheets to peel. And when you lower it, the dip will scrape on the air dam so maybe you should just trim it now or something

| What a night and day difference, I'd say that's a good value right there. Don't know how long it takes to cure but I bet a bunch of coats of wax or sealant will keep it looking nice for a long time! I'd check with someone more professional than I before touching it though...lol. When you pick up the car do they tell you anything about caring for the paint and wait times and stuff?
With the car all white now, I think those wheels would look good black with chrome! It's funny, the way the car is set up right now, the possibilities are endless- you could leave it as is with just some attention to wheel/tires, or add pinstripe flames to the body, etc.

The plan *now* is do a 5/16" grey pinstripe (to tie the interior and exterior together) as well as grey bumper trim (instead of the chrome). Summer wheels will be those AR Baja's as soon as I get some time to get to Indy's place. Also going to try that pushbar for laughs. So right now its kinda going to be a semi 1A2 clone, thingy. - toomanytoyz wrote:

No. I've been thinking that for a little bit now. I think with a dropped nose and some clear headlights and my pushbar it'll be a little more Mad.
