This car when sitting at idle has a misfire. Sometimes switching gears it dies. It also hesitates when taking off from a stop. I have a good opti laying around. Should I change the opti plugs and wires?

Yeah, I'd look at the wires for sure. Look for sparks running at night...

How old is the gas?
I never heard how long it was sitting.
I'd run a tankful thru it before opening anything up

Thanks Bill. I had a friend put the car in gear while I checked under the hood. Sure enough, there is an arcing wire on the passenger side.

I ran some gas through it today driving from Maine. Then some more driving with fresh gas back home.

That had a used opti, brand new plugs. But the wires were not changed. The gas was good. And it was run twice a week out in the yard.
