| I'm thinking its time for a tune up with new wires/plugs and maybe a cap too. Went to pull one of my plugs to check the condition and holy crap its a pain to get to them. Any tips for a newbie to this motor? I've done plugs and wires before but never on this motor. | |

| There is no easy way. Just get in there and do it. Be happy it's not an LT1. | |

| Yep, there's no shortcut, you just gotta wiggle your arms in there and get them done. I did all of my plugs on the '93 from above with no issues, it was actually much easier than I expected considering how much of a PITA people say it is. I just had to use a universal here or an extension there. I'd recommend using anti seize on the threads, and having an old spark plug boot or something to help get the plug started in the hole | |

| I think the TBI 91-93 cars have the same amount of space, lol. Easiest ones I've ever done were, well everything I've ever owned has been easy...the funniest ever is those old Ford Econoline vans from the 60s with the Ford Falcon engine, you sit in the driver's seat changing the plugs. | |

| I went through the wheel wells with my LT1. Drivers side was tit, pass side sucked. | |

| You are putting too much thought into it. Just do it. Go right from the top stuck your hands in there and do it. Really not hard at all. I even did the plugs and wires on my 9c1 from the top and those engines are a bitch. | |

Agree with Tim, Justin. You're over-freaking-out about this, just do the damn plugs! lol At the very most, you will need a basic socket set with a universal and some extensions, a plug socket, have to remove your air cleaner housing and snorkel if it's still the stock ones, etc. That's all I did. I don't know why the LT1 cars are so much harder but I'm assuming it's the manifolds or something like that...the TBI ones are easy! You will probably get your arms dirty up to your elbows and have to jam them under the sides of the engine on a few plugs to feel for where they go in the holes but that's about it...

I'm not freaking out. I just don't know what the best way is on this car. If this were my VW or my Lumina(tor) i'd be done in 20 minutes. But this is a whole new beast for me. The only reason I asked about the wheel wells is because of reading this: - onehunglo wrote:

So I didn't know if that meant I had to remove the inner fenders. Which, if I did would be wicked stupid just to do spark plugs.

| You don't have an lt1 there is no need to go through the side. Even if you did you don't need to remove the fenders there is enough clearance. Matt, the LT1/L99 cars are so difficult because the wires run behind and under everything. Behind the whole accessory bracket on the pass side and behind air pump on drivers side and under the manifolds on both sides.
Justin just get some tools get in there and do it. There is no special way to do it. Then you will come back here and say wow that was so easy...

| Only advice that probably goes for any of these cars...do the Pass. side first! The drivers side will take 5 minutes. | |
