New future project Empty
PostSubject: New future project   New future project EmptyMon Nov 09, 2009 4:29 pm

So last month i was having dinner with a buddy who really wants a early year blazer, and such, i told him ive always wanted a 70-72 c10 2wd. He turned and laughed at his wife, and i said whats so funny, he said, i have a 72 c10 stepside at home!! I was like NO!!! He said seriously, you should come see it.

So needless to say, i packed up the truck, grabbed the little woman and off we went. He lives 1 hour away. Got to his work, he got in the caddy and off we went, another 20min ride, we pull up to this house, and there in the back 40 is sure enough a 72 C10 2wd truck. Been there since 90. I looked it over, its ruff, real ruff, but a diamond to say the least. 250, 3 on the tree. 87k original. (id post pics, but i suck at it)
so he said think it over, i might sell it to you. I said price and i'll be back in the morning with the trailer!! So 3 weeks went by, i trued not to pester him, he called me, said i need a boat trailer, i told him what i had, he said ok, i'll grab it when i bring the truck up! I said HUH???? I said so your selling it to me now? He said i never said i wasn't. So needless to say, it was expensive. $1000. I can pay it whenever, he doesn't care.

So last week i grabbed the trailer and the straps, we hauled her out of the woods and brought it home. Took me 4 hours to clean the mouse/squarill crap out, and to powerwash it. Put some 9c1 wheels on it with good tires. Installed outboard gas can, water in the rad, coil and a starter, fired right up. Its very cool. I love the look of it.

Thanks for reading.

I love stories of vehicles being found like that- it always makes you wonder about the circumstances of the truck being left to rot when it in fact started up when you messed with it a bit.

Would love to see pics if you can get them online! You can make a photobucket:

https://www.photobucket.com

You can make an acct. there then just upload pics. http://www.imageshack.us works as well.

There is more to the store, 2 days later i stopped at my neighbors hows, there was an old truck in the woods, never knew what it was, so he was mowing the lawn, i asked what the old truck was, he said, 1972 C10 fleetside, lol, i thought it was way to coincidence, that i got 2 72 trucks in a week. His is total junk, but it has rally wheels on it, and some parts i need.

I joined up over at the truck forums, here is the link, there are some pics there. The second pics are the parts truck.

Well, I have my moments.

I'm hoping tonight was one of them. But I may be wrong. Wink

Bill's reply wasn't even there when I read this and typed my reply!

Despite selling the current truck I'd still like to do one someday. I've held on to an "almost new" radiator for a '72 since before some you were even born!

Good luck, 67-72 trucks is a great site for ideas on how to spend you money.

And my '70 green pick up ain't for sale. It has its own on special spot in the garage!
