Hopefully it is not a total, but if they total it, Doug might want to buy it to part out.

If it's totaled you can buy it back from the ins company cheap and get it reregistered once you fix it and pass an inspection. Doug has a solid rear corner on at least one car that you could graft onto yours. It's just a matter of frame damage since the quarter looks like it's bent down a bit.

There is no frame damage. It is just sheet metal. I think it will be fixable with the insurance company.

Damn Rich! That sucks! But could be a blessing in disguise, too. That's how I've paid for paint on a few of my rides! My caddy was rear-ended on rte 495 and that paid for the ghost flames. A tree branch fell on the Impala and that paid for most of it's bodywork, too.

Wow Rich, sorry to hear about this, but rest assured it will turn out good for you. Whether it gets totaled and you get Crovos car (and sell me yours after insurance buy back) or you get lots of dough from insurance and buy everything to fix it off me for dirt cheap money and have Billy Mac fix it.

Either way you win. Often I wish something like this would happen to mine to pay it off and pay for some mods

So I just got and estimate and was told 4-5 grand to fix and that's just by looking at it. And whole tire is pushed in lower control arm is done..

Update: Went to another guy and was told it was totaled..

Buy it back from your Ins. and let's rebuild it. Your going to have to sue her, DON'T let her off the hook. It really sucks but she should be held accountable.

Accident report should have info on it, shouldn't it? You do have an accident report?

If you go to the police station you can get a copy of the police report. It'll have all the contact info you need too. Plus the ins company will want to see it to prove who was at fualt.

I have all the info( exchange data form)... the state troop said he going to mail the report

just waiting till 2morrow to see if they actually have insurance because I was told it takes 24hrs for te claim to go through and they will see the status on their insurance

I hope it all works out. Go to your insurance company, better yet, the broker where you pay your bill, and tell them what happened. I got hit by a stupid kid on a Kawasaki road bike last year when he was barrel-assing down the center line, lane splitting at 35 MPH by stopped traffic that had let me out. Skidded into my truck while dumping the bike.
Even though I didn't have collision on my policy, my insurance company helped me out and gave me all kinds of info (I even had the registry records from his motorcycle, probably wasn't supposed to...) when his insurance company jerked me around. He tried to blame me but failed, then his insurance company was dragging their feet paying me. Finally sent them a threatening letter using legalese with words such as "Inasmuch", guess it scared them because I had my check about 4 days later.

Also, a few years ago I had an 88 Suburban. I came outside on morning and found a big dent in the d/s door, tire tracks in the snow coming from across the street. There was this family living there from Brazil, the daughter had a Corolla and the son had stolen it from her, backed into my truck, then took off. Called the cops, the guy who showed up said "there was nothing I could do" because we didn't see it happen, in spite of the evidence. So my dad knocks on their door and says the other neighbor told us they saw what happened (lie), and they admitted. Anyway, the people had to put it through their insurance, and THEIR ins co. estimated my damage at 1200 bucks...but since the kid had no license, he wasn't on the policy and it wasn't covered. I didn't have collision on that truck either, so I was SOL there. Tried getting my money from the father across the street, but he was being a piece of crap, saying "All you Americans care about is money and screwing people", refusing to pay me my 1200 HIS INS COMPANY quoted me to get the truck fixed. Then he was trying to get me to take it to some hellhole in my town where some moron he knew would probably throw bondo all over my door. This went on for a month.
I finally told the police department what was going on. The record of the insurance denial was proof that they admitted to the hit and run, and the cops went to the door stating, off the record, that if he didn't pay me, the kid would be arrested for hit and run and probably wouldn't be able to get a license, and the father would be considered an accomplice. They weren't US citizens either, so it wasn't gonna look good for them in that area. Got my check a few days later.

They moved out soon after and the other Brazilian lady downstairs said their whole family was a bunch of a-holes and was glad to see them go.


Sorry for the long post, basically what I'm saying is complain, and make your voice heard. This idiot hit you and ruined your car, someone has to fix it and that person shouldn't be you. Keep making calls, get records of EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING, write down phone numbers and the names of people you talk to, the times you talked to them, everything! Keep it all together in a folder so you know where all your info is. I can't believe the police let her go, having no proof of insurance can probably get your car towed away in this state even if you don't rear-end someone. I don't get it!

What does the light look like? I have never seen one low enough to light before. Usually at a 1/4 tank, your empty.
