Well last night I got a call from Laura that her car was stuck on the side of the highway and I needed to come get her
. I found her on the side of a busy rt-140 which is a 4 lane divided highway with 65mph speed limit for those who don't know the road. Turns out the lower radiator hose blew off the radiator and dumped all the coolant out of the system
. This is the second time this has happened in the past few months
. So with the little light available at 6pm I had to remove the hose, pull out the anti-collapse spring (which was pushing the hose off of the radiator), then reconnect the hose while cars blew by me at 70
. The kicker was trying to refill the radiator since the passing cars made car car sway which in turned made me pour water near, but not quite in, the radiator
. We then drove a couple miles down the road to a place that does virtual golf, where we refilled the coolant jugs in the bathroom to finish topping off the system. While I waited for the radiator to cool enough to open the cap I tightened the belts on the power steering and alternator, both of which were about to fall off from being so loose
. Then we came home and I watched "Iron Giant"
.
There is no point to this story. Just figured I'd post something that some of you guys could relate to and may find entertaining
