Determining wheel size Empty
PostSubject: Determining wheel size   Determining wheel size EmptyWed Sep 23, 2009 1:10 am

Is there a way that anyone has come up with to determine if a wheel is 15x7 or 15x8 when there's a tire already mounted? I know how to measure the rim when it's bare but once a tire is in place I don't know the best way to get a tape across the bead to get and accurite measurement. I figure someone must know a good trick to use.

Best I can suggest is to put a straightedge of sorts on the face of the wheel and measure to the deepest part of the center of the wheel, then do the same in the back, and then measure the thickness of the rim between the front and rear faces (where the lugs are) and then add it all together...

I dunno if that makes sense, but it's what I'd do. Wink

I've managed to find tons of info on ss wheels but I'm not finding much on n97's. I need to know the backspacing/offset so I know what I can get away with when I switch out wheels next spring. I know that they're 15x7 but that's about all I know.

I'm also going on the idea that the 9c1 rear is 1" narrower than the 7.5" drum setup that I currently have. So by my logic when I swap rears I can run 1/2" less backspacing and still have the wheel in the same position as my current setup.

Just for those curious I'm looking at running some 15x7s in the front with a -6 offset and 15x10's out back with -44 offset (both with 3.75" backspacing)
