| Getting ready to put in yet another tranny...after giving it some thought, why not do T56? If I was to stay auto I would go CPT level 3, for $1900. I know there are a few trannys on the f body boards - complete for about $1300. When you factor in labor it's a little more than CPT.
What would you guys do? | |

| i cant speak for any one else. but for fun alone its worth the price for the t56. you already have the gears. 4.11 like mine. check with bill f. i believe they will install for like $650-$700.00 not sure of that. they did my install. and its smooth as silk. love it. next time your down this way give me a call. and you can try mine out. you wont believe the difference. like bill c said it feels a thousand lbs lighter. i live by the college here. you drive by there and watch the heads turn. | |

| Actually I don't work their anymore. They would probably still do your car - but I won't be able to oversee it like I did Ron's car. ---
Definately go T56 though. It's amazing the way it transforms the car.

| T56 for sure. After driving Crovo's, even with the heavy clutch, i would not want to put another penny into an auto tranny. It reminded me of my old 6 speed powerstroke with an aftermarket clutch in that it was either in gear or out, and when in gear it was pulling, so hold on!
I always said that if my tranny ever went I would put the car in the garage until I could afford the T56. F2B is set up with such good instructions now that I would not hesitate to do it. In fact, my next project will be a frame-up build and will be set up for a T56 from day one I a thinking.

| Has anyone ever paid much attention to the company that manufactures the kit? I'll post the website for the company. Pay very close attention to the contact section at the bottom of the page and see how insanely far away from us New England guys this company really is.
f2bkit
Wonder if they would be able to do an install in their garage?

| Brad, you've met one of the guys who helped design it. He's in our club, ya know. Jay Doughty. Also Scott Peitsch and Mike O'Donnell rounded out the design team. Mike's posted here before, and knows of us. He's helped me with my swaps and done quite a few others. And Scott is still our local tuner. He dyno tuned my SS for me. Small world, eh? | |

| It's amazing how many people I've met who I don't know I've met Ok so for all those who were in the loop on this particular bit of info, you should be ashamed of yourselves for letting me be all proud of myself for figuring out something obvious. Shame on you people So does that mean we can go to the shop and get the kits to save on shipping? And can we ask them stupid questions before we get in over our heads like we do of Golen and others? | |

| Yes, you can save shipping by picking it up. I did that with my last one. They are right off Rte2 in Fitchburg. Or maybe it was off 190... Not sure, it was a while ago! They don't know anything about the install though. They are just the machine shop that Jay contracted to produce the kits, AFAIK. (Also, sorry to burst your bubble!) (not really) | |

| Holy Thread Resurrection, Batman! Some old names in this one! For a daily, you're all set. For more spirited stuff, 4.56 or 4.88. But you'll probably need an aluminum driveshaft for the last two... But you knew that already. | |

| I had planned to run 373, Jason and i talked quite a bit about this, and he said with the right tune, it will be the best of both worlds with 373.
I know that caprice that i bought was running 456, and he didn't use 1 gear in the t56 at all.
I'm starting to get the itch to do this again. Damn it.

| If I take all suggestions here and from that other forum, throw out the highs and lows, and average the rest I get 4.33. I think the tires might make the difference but I'm leaning back towards 4.56. We all make mistakes. IIRC there was a guy on that other forum that suggested that the drive line angle is critical to vibration problems. So there may be other possibilites than a new driveshaft. Anyone know of good tire for a 15 x 9.5" rim? Has to be OK for the street and occasional rain. - V8Killer wrote:
