A day to remember Empty
PostSubject: A day to remember   A day to remember EmptyFri Sep 11, 2009 12:18 am

I just wanted to take a moment and remember all the people who lost their lives on this day 8 years ago.

I still remember it like it was yesterday.

And though we will never forget, may we always remember that horrible morning as a true wakeup call that we as a nation need to ban together. And while I do not consider myself a flag waver, the unity I felt back then was one of the greatest feelings I had ever felt. It was just to bad that nearly 3000 people had to loose their lives for it to happen.

BTW. I lost my sister Susan that day. We were never close, but still she was my blood, and those animals took her away from me and my family.

I agree with you 100% Bill, though I consider myself a patriot I am not one to put it in other peoples faces. That being said, we must never forget about that day, because as soon as we do someone else will sucker punch us.

Also, being in the fire service I hear consistently about remembering the 343 fireman and police who died, but there where thousands of civilians including those on the 3 planes that hit buildings, and also the badasses on flight 93 who fought those MFers until their plane crashed in a field in PA.

A day to remember Empty

I can't believe it was 8 years ago now.

I was in the shower, arguing with my dad who was downstairs because I needed to borrow his car to get to class that day...then he came up the stairs and told me what happened...I then went to class and everyone was in the lobby watching the entire sickening disaster unfold on a big wheeled monitor. After the buildings fell, we were evacuated from the school.

I remember being paranoid, not knowing what to expect next. Then found out we lost a family friend on one of the planes. Terrible feeling, and it distresses me when you see people already acting like this never happened, getting back to their old ignorant ways. I've heard people trying to RATIONALIZE the atrocities that those primitive religious zealots committed, and it simply makes my blood boil. Disagreeing with what our government does, not our everyday civilians and members of public service, doesn't warrant actions like that.

I know it's cliche, but I'll never forget that day.

I'll never forget either. I remember it like it was yesterday. What I felt, what I was doing at the time. The shock, the horror, the fear, the sadness... Then the pride in my country and the rebirth of faith in people... It was truly awesome how the entire country (and most of the world) banded together and mourned the great losses and helped in any way they could.

It was a terrible tragedy, and there were a lot of heroes that day, and a lot of innocent lives lost... but it woke a LOT of people up that there are real dangers out there. And we're still kicking their asses.

I'll never forget.
