After about a week's worth of trial and error, I finally got the 9C1 program (programmed by PCM for less and tweaked by MikeOD) onto my "new" RMW by saving the 9C1 program onto my laptop and installing it into my RMW.  cheers  I just changed "Speed pulses per driveshaft revolution" for the rear gear difference for the speedo- I'll see tomorrow if that was the right thing to change...... I have already used the 9C1 PCM in the RMW and although the speedo was way off (4.10s in the 9C1), what a difference!!!

For those who want to program their '94/'95 LT1 but don't know where to start (like me a couple weeks ago):

'94/'95 LT1s are not EPROM based, so ignore all EPROM stuff.

You need six things:
  a. a laptop with Windows 98 or later
  b. an ALDL cable. I got mine from Red Devil River (I am not using the jumper at all)
  c. Winflash from Tunercat.com
  d. an editing program. I use TunerPro
1. an xdf file: $EE-16188051
2. an adx file: $EE-16188051 google those two files and download for free and use them with Tunerpro

Follow the Winflash install instructions to a tee under their FAQ/"can I run the tuner program under Windows 7 or 8". I did not do the "administrator" stuff and had issues. Once I followed these instructions, no issues.

Also follow the recommendations under "I'm having trouble..."

Hopefully this helps somebody who is technologically challenged like me and wants to get started.

Happy to answer any questions.

Rob

I might have to take another crack at it. Was trying to reflash my 9C1 last fall but I could not even get communication to the PCM with Winflash. Tried 2 different PCs, and tested my cable on the OCC to make sure it was working, it's the Red Devil cable as well. So I've just been driving with the speedo reading slightly slower.

Congrats on getting it working!

Update:

#1- "SPEED PULSES PER DRIVESHAFT REVOLUTION" SHOULD ALWAYS BE 40! *banging head against bricks*

#2- I realized tonight (I am 97.749% sure) that all my issues with connections and "programming aborts" were the wagon's fault! I realized that I have a 100% success rate (about 3 or 4 times) hooked up to the 9C1, and a 0% success rate hooked up to the RMW. So I think if I just plug any of my PCMs into the 9C1, I will be good to go for programming. If you keep getting the big eff U, try using another car.

back to #1- in the end, I took my 9C1 program but used the three speedometer scalar values from the RMW's factory settings, and good to go!

Next step, get the V4P's program on my laptop and check that out. Smile

another update:

so I just went down and figured if the TunerCATS program would work in anything, it would be the near mint with no rust Caddy from FL, doctor owned, with 74xxx miles on 'er. No dice. Got the big eff U again in that trying to just save the V4P PCM to my laptop. So I pulled the PCM, put it in the beat to hell, rusty, 208xxx mile 9C1, and again, no issue.

So it appears that it is not so much a problem with the wagon, but that the 9C1 is magic....

RMW: 0 for, like, 15 or 20 tries
V4P: 0 for 1
9C1: 5 for 5 or so (100%, however many tries it was).

So I guess the 9C1 will be my programming machine...

Rob can break down cost, and exactly everything a person needs? What cost, and what is free? Do you think it will work with Win 10?

Thanks.

Sure,

You need six things:
a. a laptop with Windows 98 or later- $100 for mine used on ebay
b. an ALDL cable. I got mine from Red Devil River- ~$30 http://www.reddevilriver.com/aldl.html
c. Winflash from Tunercat.com- Free 30 day trial, then it's $19.95
d. an editing program. I use TunerPro, free but donations are appreciated.
e. an xdf file: $EE-16188051- free, just google it
f. an adx file: $EE-16188051- free, just google it.

I think that's it. Not counting the laptop, my total investment will be $50. I think the combo above is the cheapest way to go. You could get b thru f above in one package I think from tunercat, but that's like $160.

I believe both tunercat and tunerpro will work with W10 but I'd contact them both first to make sure.

Keep in mind, TunerCATS Winflash is the only thing that will load the .bin file from the pcm to the laptop and vice versa, so whatever program you use to edit the .bin file once it's in your laptop, you still will need Winflash.

HTH.

I am really curious to know why Winflash will only work in my 9C1 and not in the other two cars. Again, if you keep getting errors with Winflash, try it with your PCM in another 94/95 B/D body that is known to have used it successfully.

Thanks Rob. Just one more question. I see on the site for the cable, it shows two styles. One 12 pin, one 16 pin. And they are now $55ea. Which one do I need? I am almost thinking about buying the kit with program, and cable. But willing to piece it together.

Wow, I guess I bought that just in time! Yes, that is a little (or alot) misleading on that site. I don't remember being confused by that- I wonder if they changed that wording when they changed the price. Anyway, you want the 12 pin for OBD1 (94/95).
