Help with Tunerpro basics Empty
PostSubject: Help with Tunerpro basics   Help with Tunerpro basics EmptyMon Feb 22, 2016 10:48 am

So I've got TunerPro installed on my new laptop (which I bought for the sole purpose of tuning) and my ALDL cable should arrive today. I spent a lot of time this weekend googling and youtubing but had no luck finding anything at my level which is zero knowledge. Every vid I see assumes that I already have everything set up with all necessary files in my laptop. I did learn that I need an .xdf file (or ADX, depending what I read) to use it but was unable to find one for a '94/'95 B/D body, although just now I found a couple (in #3 below).

Right now I just want to copy my RMW's and 9C1's PCM, save them in my laptop, and put the 9C1's program into the RMW, changing whatever is necessary specific to the RMW, like gear ratio, etc.

I would be very grateful if someone could tell me just what I need to at least get set up for now, like:
1. am I correct that I need an .xdf file?
2. do I need an .adx file?
3. will these two work in the 2nd post of this thread? http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?655-94-Camaro-Lt1-Tunerpro-for-dummies
4. if not, where can I find those two things?
5. what do I need to do with them when I find them?

Maybe once I load those files and plug the laptop into the car, it will be intuitive?

When it comes to computers, things that seem intuitive to a lot of people are sometimes not so intuitive to me.... Thanks for any help.

Got the Red Devil River cable today and it came with excellent instructions which I was not expecting. Lemme see what I can do with that before wasting anyone's time. Thanks.

Did you get the correct definition files for 94-95 B body? I know they are out there, I have them.

I believe you will need Tunercats Winflash to download the bin from the PCM. Tunerpro cannot do flashing on it's own thru the ALDL.

I do have the correct definition files, but your 2nd statement made me look- I always assumed that that was one of the main features of Tunerpro, was to download and upload from the PCM (after all, what good is changing a bin file if you can't get it into your car?- my bad on the assumption!). So I searched for a statement one way or the other and found it in the 94/95 LT1 section of the Red Devil CD- it says, "The only supplier of software to download (ECM-> Computer) or upload (Computer-> ECM) is TunerCATS".

So there you go. I thought I was done getting stuff! lol thanks for the reply!

No problem! The Tunercats Winflash is only $20, but they have a 30 day free trial so you can try it before the buy it.
