Building Heads/Cam LT1 Empty
PostSubject: Building Heads/Cam LT1   Building Heads/Cam LT1 EmptyThu Feb 26, 2015 10:16 pm

I've been building a motor for a guy down here in Orlando. He originally wanted to do a cam.. then heads... but with 160k+ I didn't want to trust the bottom end. He brought the car here I yanked the motor and ended up rebuilding it... on a budget. Stock 350 bottom end reused rotating assembly. Basic machine work light hone, crank polish, new bearings and rings. Motor was in decent shape. Rod bearings were toast. It ran very well and made no noises before.

Advanced Induction 190cc heads, CC305 cam.

There are going to be longtube after burners. I have a 30ft roll of wire and my own ends so I will cut them so there is plenty of space.

Excellent! That cam is pretty popular, I see. I plan to use the LT1 out of my rms for something. You've got me nervous about not opening up the engine and inspecting the inside of it.

Brian if the motor is working and you don't plan on more HP then leave it alone.

Painted a few parts to make the motor look nice.

You can see at the bottom of the water pump cover, one of the tabs was broken off. I filed it away and I think it looks better without it.

Might try to drop it in tonight. I need to measure pushrod length and prime the oil pump before installing the intake.

Sweet! That's pretty close to my motor. I have the CC306 and similar heads in a stock bottom-end 350. And it put down 340 to the wheels through a t56. That's over 400 at the flywheel. You should see similar numbers with a good tune.

Good stuff. Smile

aaaand its in. Still have to bolt up trans and connect wiring. Waiting on computer, 30lb injectors and correct length pushrods changed for proper valve train geometry.

How much more length did you need on the push rods?

Stock length is 7.2 I needed 7.1. Every motor will be different after being machined. Heads were machined also. So I lost height.

Here is the car in Daytona last weekend, me behind the wheel.
