Ok, so roughly what do you guys think it should cost for a six speed swap? Just throwing it out there? I may have a line on a reasonably priced tranny.

Click on one site, get some other site trying to download more crap. Just a real mess.

I have Mikes T-56 swap on a disk. You are more than welcome to have it Rob. Feel free to veiw the threads just don't click the link to download the manual. Sorry to mess up your thread. I might have to get a new comupter. Mad

So I found a guy with a 102k t56 still in the car for $1200. I can drive it to feel the tranny, it is a 96 Formula Firechicken....is this a good price? I see that they are going for $12 to $14 on ebay plus shipping. This one I can drive to and pick up.

It's a little high ($1K is good)
But....its worth extra $ to be SURE its in good shape
Dont forget to get all the wiring etc....EVERYTHING that connects
Peadals seem to be hard to find....from what I hear
It'll save you alot of extra time waiting

So tranny, pedals, all wiring that attaches to the tranny? The car is complete, so is that all I need?

Flywheel, clutch & pressure plate (even tho you'll replace Clutch & PP)
Take the shifter & the rubber boot (you'll probably chg the shifter anyway)
You should be good to go

I'd also like to volunteer to help out if you make a go of this project. Always wanted a t56 Roadmaster. I've never done this with anyone before but I do have that good walk through saved on my iPad.

The only new parts I priced where the f2b kit and the heavy Chevy crossmember, everything else was used.  I had everything but the 456 rearend. I ended up finding one but sold it as I was going to use 4:10s

If you can get everything trannys related for 1200 that's a good deal.

Yes I have heard about the f2b kit. And that is manufactured by one of our own...correct? And the crossmember I find where? Oh and I need the t56 dust cover?

Take anything from that car you can get that is transmission related. Transmission, bell housing, clutch, flywheel, clutch hydraulics, Wire harness, boot, PCM (Have it reprogrammed for OBD1and 94 spec), pedals. For $1200, I would not walk away without all of this stuff. Just the conversion is going to make your car seem a 1000 lbs lighter, and nimble.

I haven't ridden in or driven one of the B's with a six speed. I did drive a 94 Camaro once though with a 6 speed. The power delivery was very impressive. I realize they are much lighter than our cars though. Just weighing out what I want to do. I was going to go with a high stall tc and pcm tune this winter to get some more zip from the caprice. But I would rather do the conversion as it sound like it would be more fun and quicker. And I could always get a pretty penny for my 4l60 thats in the car now. I mean its only got 90k on it with a stage 2 transgo shift kit in it. I may be able to get out of this reasonably inexpensive. I do want to retain the bench seat for now, Is the shifter going to interfere?

Just to gove you an idea where it will be. I had modified the seat to a bucket using the seat skin from a passengers side seat. If you can locate a matching seat bottom skin, I can modify your seat. It is easy.

Just remember, the camaro with the 6 speed is a completely differnet animal than the caprice with a 6 speed, the caprice is heavier, and a slug compaired to the camaro. Don't base your info of how it will be complairing it to the caprice.
I would purchase the parts, get a spare rearend all built with the 410 or 456 gear set, have everything you need. Then go to it. I was more than 3/4 of the way there but financial problams and i had to sell. Sometime i will start again. But i'm going to go LQ4/T56

I went 4 speed route.. But essential the same involvement (minus pcm).
I'm cheap so I didn't use the f2b. I cut a b pedal assembly and welded it to an f pedal assembly.....got the same results but for $400 cheaper.

I was able to use the factory crossmember with the super t-10.
Pic of the shifter placement and pedal assembly.

If you want to retain a full bench seat you will have to buy (or if your crafty enough build) a bench seat shifter.
I built this one for a total cost of $8....

Pics of it installed in my c-10
