| Subject: 95 FWB tow package question- electric brakes Tue Apr 22, 2014 9:56 pm | |
| I just bought an 18' landscape trailer that I'll be towing with the Caddy. I was going to post a pic but damned if I can figure out how...
Anyway my question is- the trailer has electric brakes. I'm told by the knowledgeable guys at NAPA (I'm lucky enough to have a local auto parts store where the guys that work there know something about cars) that there should be a connector under the dash for an electric brake controller to hook to on vehicles with a tow package (which mine has), even a '95 Fleetwood. I'm not so sure they're right about that. I've never heard of it but I certainly don't know everything.
You guys know anything about it? If there isn't, how would I go about installing the controller? I'll be putting about 3-4k lbs on the trailer next week and would love to have it set up by then.

| I can only tell you to reference the FSM. If you don't have one, someone on here does.
You can send me the pics and I'll post them for you if you'd like.

| Well, I guess I'll check out the FSM more carefully. Thanks for the offer, Brian, but I have one. I don't remember ever seeing anything about it, but then I've never specifically looked for that topic. I took a look last night in the trunk because I couldn't remember exactly how that blue wire was routed from the factory. I really doubt now that there's any elec brake connector under the dash because that blue wire was not terminated on either end. I had spliced one end to the reverse lights and the other end gets hooked to the backup solenoid for towing with surge brakes. I might just have to route a wire from the dash to the trunk for elec brakes. And Bill, thanks for the reply! | |
