| I received a 5.3 out of an 04 silverado for free, runs great. (Got whole truck actually) down the road I'm going To put it in the 9c1 and plan to run a t56. Now the question is do I get a 93-97 t56 or look for a 98-^ t56? Won't be a quick project, but at some point i should write all this sh!t down. | |

| No expert here, but I think the transmission it self is the only pre LS part you can use. Clutch, flywheel, bell housing are LS specific. | |

| The input shaft and front cover plate are also different. | |

| Yes your best bet is to get a 98+ T56. Input shaft and front plate are different than the LT1 T56. We've got a LS1 T56 behind the truck 6.0L in my GF's Z28. | |

| Yup, you want 98-02 f-body stuff. The gto t56 has the shifter in the wrong spot. | |

| Well the bonus it they are more plentyful than the 93-97 t56 trannys. But more $ also. Hopefully the car won't rot out before I get it started. Lol | |

| I think the GTO T56 works good in a C10. | |

| I seem to remember reading on another forum the rear shifter location on a T56 is a good fit in the C10. My C10 has so much junk in and around it that you can hardly see it. For all I know there is a T56 in there under the snow blower and other parts. | |
