Not B body related I know. But I want to talk Deloreans.

What do you guys think of them? Guy near by has one for sale. Its rough. Will likely need the entire fuel system replaced, electrical work, interior, etc. I bought (for fun) a guide to restoring these cars to get an idea on parts/prices. Car in this condition would likely cost $10k-$15k to get in DD condition, depending on how much you do yourself.

I always liked the car, but the thing that always held me back was that the thing is gutless (like worse than a Corolla gutless).  I could see myself liking it for awhile, but then wanting Chevelle instead later.

Unless its real cheap, stay clear, the wiring in those things is a nightmare. Friend of my dads had a used one, he was constantly chasing wiring issues. I'm guessing because of the body. I don't know.

No doubt they are cool as hell, but i don't see the value in them unless they are low mileage, or resotred.

AVOID! Cool, but not that cool to dump that kind of money into. They have a crappy Volvo engine in them I believe and aren't very performance oriented. If it was a smokin' deal, yeah, but I'd think of all the other things you could have for the same money invested in the project as a whole?

Repairs tend to be expensive, relatively anyway. More than a B body, but less than a Ferrari.

I think I will pass. I just needed someone to talk me out of it.

A buddy of mine owned one, I believe all he did was put a whole lotta work into it, and never did get a chance to really drive it. Last he told me about it, he was going to do a Subaru STI engine swap, but he passed away before he started that project. Would've been pretty cool a Delorean with power to back up the looks.

Also, there is a Delorean out there with a LS1 swap. Google it.

i gutted two at the chevy dealership a few years ago. They were a dealer for them new in 80's. They got one with 10 miles on it , still in factory plastic. Had two shit boxes we made into one.... everything strips out or breaks coming apart. had to junk all the wood they use due to rot. Unless you got a garage and keep it there as side side project, stay away. I know there is a shop in the Houston area that is a complete resto shop for Deloreans

Just think how younger you could become if you had a time travel machine.
