Ha. Was it making a click?/not even cranking? That must've been a nice surprise.

A few years ago I worked on some project in...um...a town next to where Fort Devens is/was, where there was some guy who worked for the housing authority. We called this guy "Joe Housing"...this dude totally just strolled around all day in his new Carolina work boots and friggin Cahhh-hahht coat like he was the cat's ass after burning off all his Bob's Store's coupons. Anyway, we got called to look at a floor that was cracking on some seam that the contracting company had subbed out. He's all like "YAH, AH DIS AIN'T RIGHT..AHHHH" as I walk outside, and there's a fairly new, later body style Sierra 2500 just idling, wasting fuel. The damned truck was sitting out there for no joke, an HOUR, running in the parking lot, no one in it. Town truck, housing authority. Free gas.
So I go in and I'm like "Hey, quit wasting gas out there", kinda kidding around, kind of being a dick, and he proceeds to tell me the truck has gone through 4 starters so he doesn't care, he won't shut it off, it never shuts off...I'm like okay.

I've worked close to the town in several municipalities and they all seem to have this shit eating grin and attitude about wasting taxpayer money- they think it's hysterical. This is in addition to oftentimes standing around a jobsite for God's sake.

ANYWAY...end of story- do the starters on the LS motors really go that bad so often? Mine has always been fine.

personally I haven't sold many starters for LS motors. These vehicles take a good amount of abuse. No click or anything just dead. I wouldn't be surprised if there is an underlying issue!

I'm amazed how long the autozone starter I put on my truck is lasting. 4 years! Although it's showing signs of failure recently.

You are correct. My bad

In 1993 Foxborough PD purchased 4 93 Caprice 9c1 patrol cars. A year later they purchased 4 more. Two more patrol cars, and two unmarked 94 9c1s. One silver, and one red. The red one was the chief's car. It had a tan int with a split bench.
So even though Foxborough is the home of Rodman Ford, The chief prefers Chevy.

How is that?
