| Is it the same wheelbase as the new Caprice or are they using the shorter Zeta platform?
I'd hit it. Black or white one, please!

| I like the way they are styling the new Chevrolet's. They are only supposedly going to build 2000 a year. Limited supply to certain dealers. Stinks because that means the price will not likely drop to sane levels. Only two options. Sunroof and full size spare tire.
Still nice to see a four door v8 rear wheel drive sedan.

Bingo. According to the inflation calculator, my wagon would cost $40,405 at the current dollar value. Thats 5 series money right there.

According to the inflation calculator, my wagon would cost $40,405 at the current dollar value. Thats 5 series money right there. How does inflation raise the price of chevy, but not bmw or benz. When I purchased my 94 ss, the sticker was 24k. A benz or beemer was like 40k. Now I see this 46k chevy SS, and you can still buy a beemer or benz for around 40-50k. A base corvette in 96 was like 38k, while the impala ss was 25k. Today a new vette is 52k, and the SS is just 6k behind it?

| I'm still shocked at what some of those new FWD Impalas cost. They are a nice car, but 40 grand? It should be like 30 grand for a loaded one, lol.
Perhaps it's something to do with certain brands being deleted? I know back in the 60s and 70s, people would get a Chevy and move up to other brands like Olds and Pontiac. They cost more even though you could get the same options in them. (Look at this nice '69 and the options it has http://nh.craigslist.org/ctd/4229007818.html ). I wasn't around then, so I don't know what the viewpoint of the American public was on specific models and brands and if a loaded up Delta 88 was considered "better" than an Impala, or Caprice, I guess it depends.
Anyway, now there's no Pontiac or Olds. In the 90s, what did an Aurora, or Bonneville SSEi cost compared to an Impala SS? I know it's apple and oranges, but to the layman, they were probably sort of considered competitors in a way to the average consumer...

Ummm, well if you want a 5-series that will hang with a new SS, you'll need to dish out $94,095 for a M5. Feel better?
