| So it seems that what I thought before IS true. All BMW ownerships start with a trailer. So far, I'm 3 for 3. Lol. I had been searching lately for a winter beater and really wanted to try out a 5 series in hopes I may like it enough to plunge into an M5 at some point. I was hoping for a manual, but this was too good a deal to pass up. Besides, automatics are easier to sell anyways... The best part? Including the trailer rental, I scooped this one for LESS than it was going to cost me to go to Atlanta this weekend! May I introduce to you, my racecar, winter beater, spring-time flip victim... A 98 BMW 540i Sport. Yes, a V8 beamer! Oh noes! With almost *cough*200 thousand miles*cough* on the clock. More oh noes! Ha. But, if it's a total turd, I can part it out for more than what I paid. There's even a killer stereo in it. It's driveable, and actually drives pretty nice. I trailered it home because it was just easier, and probably cheaper, too. Wish my newest victim luck! Muhah. Muhahah. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! *cough* Sorry, got carried away... Here's a couple pics: Know how I know all the cluster lights work? Cuz they're all on. Doh! It's actually in pretty good shape and I have yet to see any rust on it. It drove pretty nice, too. So I'm just going to fix the MAF wiring issue, do the brakes, paint the fender and bumper and replace a couple window regulators and drive it. It it survives the temp plates, it'll get a set of correct sized snow tires and some kick ass satin orange paint. And I know I was saving for a garage, but this one's a moneymaker (even if just parts) and it cost me less than the trip to Atlanta that I didn't take this weekend would have. So that money was gone anyways... Oh, so I bought orange paint for the calipers and black paint for the wheels for the brake job tomorrow... " /> | |

| Why do aftermarket parts not work on BMW's? WHY? And it looks like this is going to be an all to familiar view for me... Doh. Don't buy a BMW! Aftermarket sensors don't work and Bosch and BMW stuff is EXPENSIVE!!!! (yeah, yeah, I know... Hell, even EYE told me so!) | |

| Actually Tom, this is where the marshmallow is going to hibernate this year. Tucked under the porch, away from the elements. So we can take advantage of using the garage to park the dailies out out the snow this wintah... | |

| That garage in the pic is probably more like a grand. I got one for 300 shipped from Amazon for the hell of it to put the Impala in, hope to work on that this weekend. It will be behind where I live instead of 20 miles away, so I'll be able to keep the snow off the roof this time. I call dibs on being able to roll down a hill in that black corrugated plastic tube thing behind Crovo's house next mod day! Actually maybe not...nevermind. | |

| This car needs to have a junkyard 4.8 stuffed into it, and some emblems cut and spliced together for displacement ID. 548i anyone? | |

| No, it just needs a fucking MAF sensor that works! ;)That's it! NO LSx SWAP in this thread!!!! (but Matt, I like what you did there ) Hey, I only paid 800 bucks for the car. I'm hoping to have it driving for less than 1500 bucks. So far, if the parts I ordered cure the problems, then I've met my goal for a cheapo fun winter beater. And I can sell it in the spring and find me a manual tranny something... | |

You need another subaru to keep it company,...a turbo one,..or maybe a turbo bummer? you only bought the car because it has a vowel at the end of its model number,. A? | |
