I have one of these floating around in my random parts bin and I've been unable to find out via searching- what does this do compared to the green door chime box that the civi cars had in them? I was going to plug it into the SS but if I know beforehand then I don't have to. Razz

Does it just keep the dome from turning on with the door open? Does it buzz like the old fashioned ones do instead of chime?

No. It literally does none of that. The dome lights are disconnected at every door jamb switch, key in the ignition/door open dings, headlights on/ignition off dings as usual.

No difference that I know of. I don't remember if civi cars have a seatbelt ding, the 9C1 does not. Just the idiot light.

Yea, my car just has a light that stays on. I'll probably put it in the car to see what it does. I do know that the 9c1s all have the brown box instead of the green one...

There is a difference, I think the green one had a feature to ding at you if you left your blinker on for more than a 1/2 mile.  The brown one doesn't have this.

Both chime when:

Door is open and the key is in the ignition and in any position other than run/start.Lights are on when key is in and in any position other than run/start/

I think there was a black one too.  I think it had all the features of the green one plus an overspeed chime (I don't know haw that would work).  I think that was only on the middle east export cars.
