| Strange question: Took the timing cover off the 96 lt-1 to replace seals, when I pulled it off and knocked out the 3 front seals I found a circular spring fell out with the seals/gaskets its very tightly wound and thin making a complete circles about a 1 1/2" diameter maybe. at first I thought it was an o-ring. It's definitely a spring, very delicate. Any idea what the HELL this thing is/goes to?
Will try for pics tomorrow if no one knows what Im talking about.

| The water pump seal on my Camaro had a small spring inside of it. It's unlike the teflon seals that all my other cars have/had. It's a bit smaller than that though. I always assumed this was an early version of the seal since this car had low mileage. | |

| So it's probably just a part of one of the bigger front seals? Id believe that. I kinda sorta had to man handle those seals to get them to come out. | |

| Now I remember where I seen that similar type of seal before with springs, valve stem seals http://www.gmcmotorsport.co.uk/images/uploads/stemseal.jpg | |

| It sounds like one of the front seals, either opti or the crank one. | |

| They often use springs to maintain the shape of the seal
It would be easy to determine by looking at the replacement out of the kit?
