I'm looking for the "chrome" trim piece that fills the groove from left to right on the horn pad of an 80's box steering wheel. It's about a foot long with 2 angles to it.

It's held in with two tabs. One on either side.

If you see one, don't be THAT GUY and try to pry it out with a flat head. Two bolts in the back of the steering wheel, 7mm to be exact, removes the horn pad.

I forget what year(s) mine is from, it has the Caprice emblem on it. Maybe pre '86? But, that's beside the point. I know other models had this style wheel too. Maybe el camino? Matt?

LOL probably right next to the fountain of youth. When you find it I'll pick you up on my flying unicorn to grab a piece for my wheel!

In all seriousness, TRY a G body wheel. The trim is sometimes found on Ebay but it's always been too pricey for me to just try. If it does work, LMK asap because I'll buy one too! They break if you honk the horn so good luck finding a good piece.

They really need to start more repro parts for these cars... Surprised

Oh yeah, I think pre '85 dash swap is the caprice emblem (boyscouts Rolling Eyes) and 85-90 will have the bowtie like mine.

Yea, I know. It's worth a try to ask.

I saw those ones for like $20 shipped on eBay, but the pictures are sketchy and look like someone used paint shop to draw the piece on confused

I WAS contemplating making a nice piece out of styrene or this small diameter metal piping I have. For those who have seen my 1/87 scale modeling on Facebook, I have TONS of that $tuff for modeling.

Brian I think it would be cool if you made something to fit in there. FWIW, I've never, ever seen one of those wheels with the trim intact! Except maybe those mine shaft cars. LOL

Or maybe it would be a valid use for some of that Vato Zone/Pep Boys/"Yo, I gots stick on fender vents" style of trim that comes in a roll that you can bend and cut to length?

I'll keep my eyes peeled for one.
