PostSubject: Tiyahhs [Tires] in stock size for SS...   Tiyahhs [Tires] in stock size for SS... EmptySun May 05, 2013 9:55 pm

The SS wheels that came on the DGGM had two more or less brand new looking General Grabber UHPs mounted on them, and two KDWs that need to be replaced.

Sometime soon I'm gonna have to replace those, I kind of want to run the SS wheels. While the tires I have say they were made in 2010, it appears the UHP in the 255/50/17 is no longer made, but I'd like to have a matched set of 4 tires. I'm not super dead set on having these tires I just don't want something that looks totally different from far away. I suppose I can just get a cheap pair of those Riken Raptors though, the tread looks somewhat similar from a distance.

Anyway, figured I'd ask out of curiosity if anyone had a pair of Grabber 255/50s in very good condition they would be interested in parting with. I suppose if I can't find any Grabbers I would consider selling mine also. I can't exactly budget a whole set of 4 new tires for those wheels at the moment, which is why I've run my BFGs from the get-go.

I'm going to call a place tomorrow where I was able to find the Firehawks last time and see if they find anything.

You're not going to find the generals. I already checked my continental/general supplier and tire rack wholesale. They always have the hard to find stuff if there's any left. If you want some tires give me a call at work 508 ,two91 75hunnit. You probably won't find m any cheaper than I can do for you. Those generals have a pretty shitty tread design anyways. Like a sport truck tread.

Thanks kehd, I was going to bother you about this as well. LOL. Aaaaaaand I totally posted this in the wrong forum section since I'm an idiot... Surprised

I'd like to find something that doesn't pull too much on the road. I've been loving the BFGs because they actually ride smooth and pretty straight as well...even though they're a dinosaur of a tread design!

You mean the RWL Radial T/As like I have? Apparently Coker bought the rights to them from BFG, and they went waaaaaaaaaaay up in price!

My buddy had to buy a pair for fufus old car, all he could find were the firehawks. I think they were $160 each. Firestone in Wilmington and it took them a week and a half to get them.

Ha, damn man, that sucks. I keep meaning to stop in there and ask "Hey, uh, so you guys got any Indy 500s sitting in the back?" But I'm sure Matt already has. Laughing

I've been considering some Nittos, but I haven't decided. I'm sure the front end will be sorted out with an alignment and anything that might be worn replaced (I've got an appointment at Fastrack in Peabody on Weds.), but I don't really like directional tread all that much, or any tires that go all over the road. The Nittos weren't terrible but I'd like something a little better in the rain. This car has already become my daily driver, I think I've used the Tahoe twice in the past week and a half, and one of those times was to drive one mile from my house. Laughing

Like I said, the Riken Raptor looks a little similar to those ones that are on the wheels now, so I might just go with those...

LOL How do you think I got mine? The manager and I searched the backroom for the 235's and the 255s were ordered from a different store.
