Going down south..... For good

Yup, moving to Florida early June. Had some good times with everybody. I'm going to try to make Chris's meet to say goodbye.

I'm moving because we have no family here and no friends. My wife sits at home all day doing nothing because there's no company. Nobody to help out with our daughter, to socialize with. We spent Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter by ourselves without family, the past 2 years. My mom and 3 of my sisters, including their many family friends live down there and are always getting together and doing stuff. I'm going for a better quality of life. Right now my life consists of work, cook dinner and sleep. I want to go cruising in the sun... car shows... swing down to Miami and go to the beach.. stop by my moms house so she can see my daughter grow.. Living up here im at a dead end. The only thing going for me is my job and to me there's more to life than work.

I've been wanting to move down there since I went to visit in 2010. When I went last summer we went all over Fl. I wanted to go back in 3 months but my wife didn't want to. This time, I made it a point that we are moving down there and she finally agreed it's what's best for us. There is no good reason we should stay here.

Looks like you have this pretty well thought out with valid reasons. It's no fun being by yourselves and if your wife doesn't have something to do to keep her occupied, there is nothing worse. I know, I've been there, and so has every other married guy.

Sounds like you've got it figured out and are doing the right thing.

She went to Cape Cod on vacation and stayed because of me. She does have an Aunt here but she works 7 days a week and has no time for us. Her brother lives here too but he's a young guy and does his own thing. Again, no time for us. I moved here because I found a job in Hyannis and moved in with Jessica. My family was in RI/NY and one by one moved down to FL. All Jessica's family is in Brazil.

You're not kidding. I'm in the same boat. All my (worthwhile) family is south. No name friends from high school didn't matter when I came back from 4 years away in Cali and being deployed. So, fuck em! Now that the wife has a good paying govt job and I'm buying out my boss, we waited too long! Missed our chance. Stuck...

If you end up at the meet in Groton, I'll have a little going away present for you.
