| ENOUGH SAID! Second time I changed this exact ball joint in a year, i also mangled a castle nut halfway through the year which was replaced a month or so ago. Its also the same side the damn tierod broke too, Any reason only one side of a car would be affected like this???? Pissing me off seriously! I'm going back and re-torquing all the bolts on the caddy this weekend. and I'm also gonna check the trucks front end too. I was pulling out of the driveway at my old mans, good thing it wasn't on the pike! | |

| Idk, this time it was actually MY fault since when I took the air bags out I couldn't find a replacement castle nut and stuck a nylon insert lock nut on there and stuck the cotter pin over it. I did NOT torque it down I just tightened it till it stopped moving and I thought I'd break the wrench. The other side isn't torques either so it's gonna get done also. I put a MOOG BJ in this time before I stuck whatever the guy had. It's just funny it's all happening on this side even though both sides have been separated numerous times. The tow truck guy was a F***ING IDIOT and first had me drive the car o the control arm into the street so he could load it, THEN he got the car stuck on the flatbed and I had to "drive" it off onto the driveway.... You thought the front plate was F'd up before?? You can't even read it now. It isn't even worthy of POOGE art. It's a good thing there was ice in the driveway. It probably saved the arm and the shock from being demolished while driving. | |

| That happened to my brothers car a few months back ( I think I posted it) and it was the same as you, right at the driveway. In fact, he'd just been driving on the highway too. Car was stopped and just collapsed! Turned out to be a bad newer ball joint I guess. Anyway, they got the car up on the flatbed and off with no damage, I forget what they did but I guess they used all kinds of wooden blocks? | |

| I was actually thinkin about your bro's RMS while this was all going down, It's fixed now, It took more time to find a jack than it did to press in a new ball joint. If I decide to Re-bag the car I'm gonna do the other 3 for precaution, glad I didn't start straightening that fender yet! Lol | |

| I never would have thought of this if i hadn't seen it last night on reddit... There was a guy complaining about replacing everyting and still having a bad camber...ended up being a bent spindle...Probably not it, but something outside the box might be causing unneeded wear on everything on that side...
Is it possible you regularly have a 1000 lbs passenger putting extra stress on that side of the car?

It sure beats me hitting a building with the plow yesterday. That tow truck driver must be new or something because I've seen some experienced guys do some crazy things with cars before. I've actually never ONCE seen someone drive a car onto the truck either, they always pull them on somehow.

| Hey hey hey I'm not a chubby chaser! I gotz sticker in the back window of the truck to prove it This car has been in a front end collision (hence the dggm clip) Guy I bought from said it was professionally straightened, but who knows. The body panels up front were rubbing when I got it, and on bags things up there were constantly moving around, but this whole thing could have just been a non-torqued nut situation. (both times) again I just find it odd only this side is screwy. I'm gonna mark today on the calandar and check on that BJ once a month so see if it gets bad. The thing is the actual ball joint itself was NOT loose. The threaded part at the top sheered clean off with the nut and cotter pin still intact, (cotter pin was bent into a V) so I assume it worked loose a bit from driving daily and eventually got to point the stress was too much on that part and it snapped. Gives me an excuse to get her into the garage soon. I need something on bags damn it!!! Got another door panel off to remove the crap cluttering the door skin (handles and locks) So maybe the rest of my satin black paint will get on there sooner than expected, one weekend of non-crap weather will do it, | |
