| Any other car you'd be doing some sound proofing at that point.
So....all detailed & back together in 1 day?

| That's just a routine cleaning when you have a kid... At least if my wife's car is any judge of that... | |

So....all detailed & back together in 1 day? I'm going to clean and reinstall everything tomorrow. When I did my old Roadmaster I did it in one day. I didn't take the carpet out of that one though. - Ironfistdog wrote:

Sophia hasn't been in this car yet. Been driving the wagon. Most of my tire store customers with car seats have trashed interiors.

I will second that thought, as I have been in the rental car industry 19 yrs. Let me tell ya some horror stories with kids and car seats. Makes us want to do what you have done, strip the interior out. Too many tales to tell. Just dont make fun of me : I got a RECARO child seat in my Impala.. matching grey, my little guy loves going in the car. Fleetwood you have sure looks really sharp. Love the white.

| For the carpet I used Zep high traffic carpet and upholstery cleaner. I dunked a big nylon bristle brush in hot water and scrubbed. After, I rubbed it down with a towel. in sections. On the seats I cleaned them with purple power diluted 5:1 and a toothbrush. Yes, a TOOTHBRUSH. It's soft enough to not damage the leather anymore than it already is. This car really needs all the seats replaced. The leather is cracked so much. The toothbrush really gets the stitching clean. I can't stand dirty stitching. Purple power is a little harsh for leather. But these seats are crap. I'm going to condition them tomorrow with Lexol. | |

| I got the power trunk pull down working again too. It worked fine when I first got the car. Over time it became intermittent. So I eventually got it to shut and pulled the fuse. I didn't like having to slam the trunk super hard to get it to close. I figured out it was the switch on the motor itself that had a bad connection because was a little loose so when I wiggled it, the motor would work. I took out the assembly and removed the switch. I cleaned the contacts and put it back together snug. Works perfect now. It's nice to have that feature back.
The Fleetwood trunk is busy with electronics. When you remove the carpet you can see the fuel door locking mechanism that works with the power locks (option), trunk pull down motor and power antenna. My antenna mast is not perfectly straight so it doesn't go down. I can hear the motor work but it doesn't do anything. Sucks having the mast up all the time.

Nice, I love cheap little fixes like that. And that's a good cleaning tip about the carpet, knowing some of your tricks is always good when you encounter a real mess. Sort of like my car
