PostSubject: My 91 FWB..... yup finally bringing her out   My 91 FWB..... yup finally bringing her out EmptyWed Feb 20, 2013 12:16 am

all this cadillac talk got me motivated......

Well I got to thinking, and remembered I resealed the intake manifold about 2 years ago and never set the timing after. D'oh!
Which is kinda weird cus when I moved the car last year it fired up and I hit the highway doing 80 like there was nothing wrong...

She wouldn't hold idle yesterday, I did nothing and said I'll try again tomorrow. Today she held idle without any adjustment scratch
I drove it in the shop and adjusted the timing and she felt right again.... for the moment.... When i shut the car off and reconnected the ESC , she wouldn't turn over.... disconnect the wire and she idled and reved like a charm scratch

back to the drawing board tomorrow, study but I did get some up dated pics for you picture hungry mongrels. My 91 FWB..... yup finally bringing her out 3770943023

This FWB has been off the road almost 5 years, all the surface rust is from it sitting in the woods for 2 years, still no rot. The 1/4 panel extensions broke due to being old brittle plastic, not from being rear ended. The top is cracked because some punks smashed my windows. I washed it once before towing to my shop. Clean Huh..... Ive owned the car since 2006, and I have never buffed it. king

..notice the last 3 digits on my plate Twisted Evil

Big pimpin right there, Chris! Nice ride. How much do they get for those fillers? I had to get front and rear for my t-type and it was around $300 plus paint and install. Surprised

When you set the timing did you unplug the est harness?

Check the idle speed by bringing car to running temp, on the climate control press cooler for 20 seconds this idle speed control motor plunger to retract. Inspect the throttle lever and make sure it's resting on the minimum Idle speed screw. It should be 450-500 rpm.

After your done turn ignition off 10 seconds and then turn engine on and check for ISC operation. Scan for codes.
Disconnect (-) battery and wait 10 seconds. Should reset the TPS value.

Make sure you don't have any leaky hoses or gaskets.
A little ether sprayed around the TBI and hoses should indicate any vacuum leaks.

I can't WAIT to see this thing driving. Im on the lookout for fillers for you. They go for $174 w/ free shipping on eBay.

Chris's FWB has a 5.0 "E" chevy engine, equipped with an IAC (no ISC motor)

You should'nt ever touch idle speed screw on those.

Ive been searching for a set of 84 caddy wire wheels but haven't found a clean set for a decent price, and for the cost of repro's I rather just buy 150 spokes instead. I would love a set of "swangers " but those too are way over priced.

Yes this is the one I tried selling before, original florida car, never driven during the winter, OK, once but I was in Texas so that doesn't count. tongue

Pooge, you sound like your not much of a caddy guy, ever driven one on a long trip? If not, try it, you'll love it

YES, did that first, car ran fine , until I plugged it back in and she stalled out, wouldn't turn over, unplug it, and it sounds just like she did 5 years ago.not sure whats going on, still poking at it. I did say F'it and started it right up yesterday morning backed out the garage and laid some rubber down the road and cruised around the block, good lordy that felt good cheers

yes, ive found a few sets myself, would like to buy the news ones then try to make some out of sheet metal using the new ones as a template. Biggest problem is getting the white to match my 20 year old paint Surprised I will notice the difference and it will bug the hell out of me.

Guess your gonna have to paint the whole car. Now's a good time to pull the top and maybe a custom back window, "ol skool caddy with the diamond in her back"

I said the same thing about my 96 fillers, I wish they were metal so I could smooth them into the quarters.
