| Found some indoor (presumably heated) storage thru a family friend today. Anything special I need to do before I put the car away? It'll only be inside from the middle of this month til the 1st or 2nd week of March. I'm thinking Sta-bil in the tank and remove the battery and put it on a trickle charger? I'm going to put some mothballs inside to get rid of the critters. | |

| Fill the tank. Park it. Disconnect battery. Leave it alone. Retrieve it when you're ready. | |

| I do mothballs underneath and dryer sheets where they may want to congregate.
Fresh oil change.
Empty everything you can from the car. Clean car = less things for critters if they are around.
As it's indoor I would also keep a couple windows cracked so the air inside does not get stale. It keeps everything nice and dry. I actually leave my rear gate glass open.
Stabil in the tank is a good idea. Did not do it once and car was an unhappy camper until I could add some good fuel and a fuel restorer.
Full tank.
Disconnect the battery. Trickle charger and you should be good.
As you are only doing three months I would not go any further.
Also if the inspection is going to expire while it's away get it done ahead. In NH you can inspect 3 months in advance. I have both Buick's inspected before I put them away so I don't have to wait for an appointment with my inspection station of choice.

| Thanks guys. Good idea with the oil change, it's getting close to due anyways. Reg is good til May. It'll be parked next to a 57 sedan and a 69 Roadrunner. He'll be in good company | |

| Or you can do the lazy man's way like I do and have no problems. At Thanksgiving time, I put the Fleetwood and a wagon in the garages. I do nothing for preparation, other than sweep the garage floor. Come April 1st, I start them up and back them out. Never have any problem. End of story.
I may once during them time start them up, back them out, and let them run a while. But that's not a given.
The other wagon and the two DD's are left to fend for themselves outside. Tonight, it could get down to -25 degrees. Life is tough sometimes.

I thought about that. But considering it'll be going to FL two weeks after I pull it out of the garage, I'm not going to risk it.

| I usually do it the lazy way like Tom. If you have any maintenance to do, do that before you store it so you don't have a pile of projects in March | |

| This is not the right way I'm sure...but I have no choice...the yellow Impala goes in a tent garage with one broken zipper on the roll up door flap thing, the floor is dirt/stone covered with a tarp and plywood over that, the car has a breathable car cover on it because cats get in there and walk on my car, and I had to put a tarp over that because the roof leaks condensation or rainwater onto my car, which leaks past the bad back window seal if no preventative measures are taken. I put Stabil in the tank with premium, leave the battery connected, and go start it every couple of weeks. If the roads are dry I actually take it out for a while to blow the crap out of it, and put the car away later on... I put moth balls all over the place around the car but it made the car smell like mothballs and cat pee. I need to figure a more sinister way here. I think the car is moving to a new home this spring though where I can keep a better eye on it...the damned car is like 20 miles away from where I live. | |

| I'm more partial to Tom's way, too. But you asked the right way. Mouse protection is a good idea. All I did for the Marshmallow this year was park it on a tarp with a full tank of premium at my mother's house, in the backyard, put some mouse-X in and around it, disconnected the battery and threw a cover on it. | |

| Kind of like Bill said, ideally we all have great ideas on what we should do to prepare for the cars winter nap. But in reality it doesn't happen, just too much other stuff to do.

| I admit the one year I didn't properly store the car (not one of the Wagons) but the BMW 325is it went bad.
When spring came around I went to take the car out and it didn't want to run well and there were some critters. So that's why I am very careful to plan ahead when I put the cars into storage.
I actually run premium fuel and Stabil starting around Turkey day. Figure on an Inspection at the same timeframe. By then it's time to get ready to store for the winter. I just keep a bottle of Stabil with me when I go out and make sure to fill up before I put the car away.
I admit it's overkill but it's worked so far. Of course if you read the articles about the new ethanol blends there is no point in running Stabil or any other treatment. But I have had good luck so far.
