Oh man, that thing is BEGGING for a Duramax Swap...

I know Mad I've always wanted to do that! The car should have came with a 6.2 from the factory not the 350 olds. I want that thing bad!

Matt Trakker wrote:
Jesus, that must be pretty rare. I like how GM didn't even change the Oldsmobile font for the Diesel emblem as applied to the Caprice it's on. Laughing

Lol I know right!? Lazy! It is rare being the "last year for two doors" before the hiatus in 83 and diesel. I bet it has an aluminum hood too. Uggggghgh!

Against my better judgement....just sent an e-mail

At least you did that before I did! Shocked I seriously cant be buying anything big...until you decide you're bored with it in which case DIBS! Laughing But seriously...

It's actually really rare, only seen one other caprice classic diesel in my lifetime.

I wonder if there is any truth to the "aluminum hood" on diesels...

I'm pretty sure there is! If you buy it that will ultimately tell all.

I bet a few people here could make their money back on that thing. The seats are Z71 specific and look to be in good shape, has the taillights with the covers, the specific wheels, etc.

Maybe the frame could be fixed too, looks like it's in decent shape otherwise...

Diesel bumper with the fog lights. That bumper should have been on every truck from 88-98 I don't care who you are or what you say, it's better than the gas one!

Did you know those cars aren't "considered" bubbletops, even though some people call them that with the advent of the Intahnet? A "bubbletop" was a 62 Chevy that had the "leftover" '61 rounded rear roof with "bubble" back window, because GM started using a new roof style that resembled a convertible top (a hardtop) that year. As a result, people started calling the 61 Impala/Biscayne/Bel Air a bubbletop as well, retroactively, then any car with the butterfly windows and back window that were the same as a 61-62 Chevy... I have so much crap that has to be listed on eBay, guess how much has been listed recently... Surprised

Anyone want 90's Buick Skylark hub caps or 60's T-bird caps? Laughing

It's really a sin this car has been left to deteriorate. A '76 coupe is a bucket-list car for me. I think this one could be saved, doesn't look too "rotted"...
