PostSubject: 95 roller   95 roller EmptyTue Dec 04, 2012 6:23 pm

Found a 95 today, car is pretty clean, little bit of rust in the usual spots but not bad for a Maine car. Been smacked pass side. Not hard, body guys says simple fix, pull the b post out.
Good tires, new exhaust, 342 posi, impala grill, cold air intake.
No motor or tranny. Wiring harness or PCM come with it.

I made an offer off $800. And ill pull the motor and tranny. He said he'd think about it, I think that's a fair price. Anyone got some input?

If I didn't have all the parts to fix it, I wouldn't bother, but I have motors, wiring, etc.

I'm assuming it's an SS

...if so...I think your offer is fair. I think it will be a hard sale for the guy with the current market, especially with no motor and trans....but you are dead on, to someone like you with the parts...its well worth it.

ehh...in that case I am not so sure.

I mean after all that work...you may have a decent car....but unless it has a special place in your heart....whats it really worth?
It seems to me like the bottom has kinda fell out of this end of the market. Just my .02

Example...look how hard it has been to sell the 1a2 which actually is a super rare car in the right color.

It all comes down to what you are looking for. I bet you could find a RUNNING caprice fairly rust free for 4-500 and do an LT swap if you wanted. In your stash, I am sure you have some 9c1/impala suspension stuff laying around.

My advice....go lower.

I've bought 20 of these cars, the only one that was close to rust free was a 95 civi that had no title.

A 9c1 around here is getting tough to find. I don't think hez interested anyway. It would be nice to find another Maine SP cruiser.

I wonder why the 9c1s are always rotted...

I understand the environments they are subject too...but usually maintenance facilities like there garages are decent and they try to keep them clean and presentable?

Weird.

Weird.

It's probably not the police departments, but the people who get them after.

Fleet maintenance means nothing, sometimes it's worse.

I know several fleet shops, and most private owners I know take MUCH better care of their cars than the fleets do because they paid for them and want them to last. Fleet vehicles are typically driven by a guy who takes it for granted and the mechanic only gets ahold of it when something has gone way wrong.

That is not a hard and fast rule, but it is what I have seen in my travels.

Public service fleet cars normally have the same philosophy as roads. "Use them quick before you stop getting the money for them" I've seen townies beat the effing $hit out of their town vehicles, when it comes to their personals they treat them like grandmas car with a trunk full of china...

Cops are pretty much the same. I used to think the same thing until I began to see people driving cars they don't pay for.
