| It's a few MILES out of your way, but i just had mine rebuilt a few weeks ago. He's in Rhode Island and he stands by his work. He quoted me $800 to bench rebuild my 95 4L60E, he only charged me $650. He's a very reputable shop with over 40 years experince, believe me I did my research. He told me to drop the car off after i put the tranny in so he could double check things over. I wanted to give a local guy the business, and if i had any issues, North Carolina is a bit out of the way. Heres the info; Transmission Shop (yup thats the name) 30 Newell ct Coventry RI (401)821-5160 ask for Doug ST.Jean. Good Luck A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER Norm......... | |

| Yeah tell me about. I am looking to spend anything under 1000 bucks, and hopefully can get a warranty with it as well. I have talked to joel, as well as Rock350. He said if I was closer to MD he could help me out, but I'm quite a ways away. | |

I wouls contact Shane, and see if he has any stock rebuilds. I have seen them sell on ISSF for just under $1000 shipped. |

| I laugh at stock. I NEED something performance built. I'm calling just about every tranny builder in NE to see who is the cheapest/has the best warranty. By all means I would go with Shane but I do not have the 1600 bucks to get what I'm looking for. | |

You should listen to your father Jr. He is wise about these things. I f it was me I would sell a kidey or something for the extra duckys to buy a level one. After all for what you get from Shane (rebuilt better than new, free shipping and warranty, and great customer sevice and great feed back) How could you go wrong. Besides you will not find a builder who knows the 4l60e the way Shane does for the short money he sells them for. If there was a way to advertise his product, I would allow it here for free. That is flat out how confident I am of him and his product. The funny thing is, I have never pmet him or purchased one of his transmissions. Do what you want, but if you want what just happend to you to never happen to you again, then give him a call. |

| Back in the day we scored an 88 Eldarado Baritz that had been sabotaged. (was formally owned by a pimp/drug dealer and then he got busted) Anyway tranny was junk and my father and I towed the car and a box of tranny parts, to TransMedic in Windham, NH. Trans worked fine however motor blew a few years later when the info panel displayed "SEE MANUAL 7G", low oil. | |

| Dude. Buy a CPT or you might as well drive that damn car off a cliff.
When your cheap local performance build dies in a year you're gonna murder that thing anyway.
Buy once, buy right. | |

Jr I Talked to the guy who rebuilt mine tonight he is located here in maine, He does a helluva good job, He said he would charge $450 to fix whats wrong with it and clean up the rest, $600 for a complete stock rebuild, and you would have to talk to him in person and he can figure out a price for a performance rebuild, he will even do house calls because this guy came to my house in the morning with a truck loaded with everything he needed, even a compressor and pulled my trans and rebuilt it right in my garage and put it back in and I drove the car before he left later in the day, but the prices he just quoted me would be if you pulled the trans and brought it to him yourself. He told me he pretty much makes a living on the 4l60e's, I will pm you my number if you want to discuss it and I can give you his contact info.

| Alright. So I guess I am going with either a level 2 or 3 CPT. I don't think I'm going to be making 650 flywheel and running low 11s in the 1/4 but hey, sometimes overkill is nice | |

| I made a few phone calls, but the bottom line is that nobody beats Shane. He's a proven builder and offers a one year, unlimited mile warranty. I couldn't find anyone else that did that. Even after my dad's warranty was up he helped him out a lot. I've decided not to cheap out on this one because I will end up regretting it. | |

I know once I order it and get it in I won't regret a second of it. Yup, I hear ya...part of the reason I started parting out cars was to make spare coin to afford mods to the car and a Step 2 CPT is one of them if/when my tranny takes a dump. It's like anything else, you usually get what you pay for and it sucks to learn that the hard way... Doug

| get a loan, or as it was put, sell a kindney. Go with Shane. If u try to go cheap the way you drive (thats not an insult either) u will regret not going with a upgraded better tranny.
Sorry posted before i read the second page. Good luck,

| Shane can't be the only guy out there that can rebuild a 4L60E, If you find a reputable shop like i did you wil not regret it. What if you have a problem, are you going to have to rip it out and send it back? There are plenty of good shops around, I believe in giving the local guys the business. | |

| I don't feel like taking a chance on someone who doesn't know what they are doing. When something goes wrong, I have no problem shipping it back to Shane. That's what everybody else does. | |

There is a difference between someone who rebuilds transmissions including 4L60Es, and someone who rebuilds 4L60Es. |
