We all have owned or currently own B or D-bodys. This is a thread to share the story about how you became interested in them and eventually purchased the first.

My choosing a b-body was by necessity. I had a Grand National, and getting kids in and out of a two door car with big doors was a pain in the ass. I started looking at a 4 door replacement in late 93. I looked at crown vics, regal 4 door, grand am, and a few more. One day in the spring or summer of 94 I saw a New impala SS leaving the Cumberland Farms in Foxborough. I followed it out to rt140 where we came to a light side by side. When the light turned green, he jumped out of the hole, and I had to chase him down. I was so impressed, I soon stopped in to a few Dealerships to check them out. I remember one dealer did not have one, and the sales guy was trying to put me into a used DGGM or what ever color green it was 93 LTZ. But my car had to Black. Finally I found one left over in late 94 for just under 20k, and the rest is history.

I fell in love with the car. My only complaint is that durnig hard cornering, I would get pushed up against the door or center console. Other than that, it was the cat's ass.

That is my story. I would love to here other stories.

After I figured out my first car was a rotted out POS, I had a list of cars I was thinking about for replacements. On that list was a 91-96 Caprice.

I bought the first one I found and then spent lots of time reading the Impala SS forum gaining knowledge.

It was a 92 base model with 0 options. It ran like crap and was banged up but I didn't care. I fixed stuff and shined that turd daily. I put about 10k miles on it and then someone pulled out in front of me and I t-boned them. He went to the hospital, I walked away untouched.

That was in 2005 and I've had 10+ B-bodies. I'm not showing any signs of stopping.

Well for me I had grown up in one that my grandmother had owned. An 89 four door Caprice, I remember it as Silver with gray interior. The two most vivid memories I still retain of the car are sitting in the back seat and being extremely comfortable ( Cool ) and it backing out of the garage at the grandparent's house and seeing those nice tail lights all lit up in red. Something about it made me love the car! It really was a "grandma car" but I liked it a lot! She eventually had to get a new car because it needed a few things (radiator, peeling clear coat) and my gramp fought her but she won. They bought a (yuck) purple Chrysler Concorde....woo?

Fast forward to when I'm about 13 my dad picked me up and said we were looking at a car, didn't tell me what though. I was interested once he said car so that worked for me! We pulled up to a rented bay in Swamscott(sp?) and I saw this awesome looking red caprice with red interior. The first thing I noticed, the tail lights in a garage...memories re-born. I needed the car! This was the first time I had ever seen a two door caprice, I had no idea it existed but damn was I happy it did! it really was a beautiful car, had a few flaws but the price was right and in the end my dad ignored them. The owner got in it, tapped the key, hit the kill switch under the dash that would confuse folks for ages, and started it up. That's when I heard the true duals and flowmaster 40 series muffs roar and settle into a sweet friggen rumble! He backed it out and I sat in the passenger seat and my dad took it for a spin. Out of site he blipped the throttle and kicked the ass out a bit. Need I say more??? Twisted Evil

So he bought it and I loved it! it was one of the first cars I learned to drive on and had some serious fun in. Lots of long loud and sometimes fast cruises and drives with my dad so it became somewhat sentimental. That IROC TPI swap was done nicely and that thing hauled friggen ass! Eventually, a few months after I had turned 15 some stupid C*** and her friend were flying around in her parent bought maxima and slammed into the quarter panel. We were going 5 mph and had just turned onto the street. What...a...bitch! Most cars that would have been fixed, but a two door quarter panel worth replacing in a junk yard? Yeah ok buddy nice try! it was totaled, he took a small check, and I got a free car. I was happy about that but had no idea what I was doing!

I obviously never finished that car because the damage turned out to be wayyyyy more than I had though. The floor was GONE both quarters need work, there was rust almost everywhere and electrical gremlins were rearing their heads and there was no way to get a diagram due to the two harnesses spliced together. Well that got parked in various places for years, I bought the first two door car for cheap with a V8 that I could find, and it's been reliable, but no caprice.

Again, fast forward and you all know this story. I saw a CL ad for an 87 two door caprice that was MINT! I went up to look at it without telling anyone because my mom would have flipped if I told her before I bought it bounce but anyway, I bought it. Best purchase I've ever made. I had some fun with it and did some mods, made it look great in my opinion. Then again, some bitch ruined it for me. Mazda came humming through the red light going way too fast, I was the third one going through the green light. How the hell can you explain her actions to me!? UGH!

And now I'm in the process of rebuilding, slow, slow and tiresome process but all worth it in the end. I hope that when I'm done, no one EFING HITS ME! and I have the car for the rest of my life. I'll even winter it and live in it if necessary at this point! Oh, and don't forget the parts are from the third car I bought and my first car mixing together to become one. I think that part is awesome as I don't have to completely get rid of either one! Arrow

My story, thanks for reading!

Mine was your typical boy meets car story.... I was 12 or 13 when they hit the dealers, I was a car hound already and I've always been a big fan of anything that pulled from the norm, still am. I knew from the second I saw it that would someday own one. It took till I was 23 to get one, but I bought my 94 and loved it.

The rest you guys know.

I had always liked big sedans and wagons as a kid. But my true love for the Caprice started either in 91 or 92 when my father was driving a flatbed. I used to go on calls with him on weekends and non school nights. One day during the summer we had to transport a brand new LTZ from one dealer to another for accessory install. I walked around the car and loved it from the moment I saw it. Sat in it and was so awesome. The big plush leather seats, skinny wheel and big instrument cluster. I knew I had to have one. Took 18 years, but I finally got my Caprice. lol!

I can remember my Dad, coming up to the end of our street in a late 60's impala, while we were waiting for the bus.

The rumor was...he was a race car driver because he's the only one that would do a little burnout leaving the street...lol

That didnt hook me on Impalas but it did hook me on spinning the tires.. Smile

Come 1994 I saw the BBB...THAT was it.

By Mid 95 I was sitting in a dealership after a test drive & my wife gave me the nod. cheers

Now granted, I had already sold it to her as a 4 door, saftey seat carrying, big trunked family car... silent ...Cool

I remember making many extra trips to my garage to look at that brand spankin new BBB 95

I just NEVER got over what a beautiful look that car had.

With kids & everything (96 & 98) I never really got into the club / forum scene so I was REALLY dumb to the LT1's fine points. Suspect

The year the new charger came out, I was at Car show

(some of you may recognize the kid on the left)

I optioned out a charger the way I NEEDED to have it & the price went upwards of $45K

Folded my hand & walked away....THEN...the sickness set in.

Bought the BBB 96 in BETTER then new condition & 12K miles for ALOT less....

Realized I STILL loved the look, was spoiled by the size & had aged past the need for OMG speed.

STILL love the looks, STILL love the size...& the BBB must make you younger cuz NOW I once again...need the speed.

( Insert pic of 3-BBB's & a Black RMW... Laughing )

This group of BADASS'z adds a whole new dimension to the B-Body game...I'm all in.

I hope Matt can nurse that puppy until the re-pop parts supply picks up (I hope it does) and stages a full rebuild even more intensive than you did to it and keeps it forever. That'd be the cool story that have! Cool
