There is a '91 at the yard with MINT tails, problem is the trunk is closed. Any way to get it open? I figured a big screwdriver and hammer it thru the lock cylinder.

If you look at the wiring diagram for the power tailgate lock circuit here

http://ss.lencolab.com/

and you have a battery pack & knife to get to the harness & wire

you might be able to pop it without damage

(to your thumb...hand...wrist....or whateva you'll end up hitting with that BFH.. clown )

ASS uming it HAS a power tailgate lock... scratch

Any NON-impala info I regurgitate must be taken at face value

-2 philips head screws removed from the license plate light

-Remove light assembly

There is 2 rivets holding a metal retaining clip

-using a flathead screw driver get the blade under the rivet head OR under the metal clip and give it a few whacks with a hammer
-both rivet heads should break free easily

- pull clip straight down with pliers or your hand

-pull lock cylinder straight out

- insert slim flathead screwdriver into Hole and turn the slot to the right to pop the trunk open

I've subscribed to this method many times since going to the junk yard with Indie. It works great. Instead of destroying a trunk lid someone may need...

This is the most important part of this whole thing. You don't want to be the dink who screws up a part for someone else because you were short-sighted. Good work boys
