Selling it all....... Almost Empty
PostSubject: Selling it all....... Almost   Selling it all....... Almost EmptyWed Sep 26, 2012 2:01 am

Today after completely chopping off half the wagon and re welding it back on, I've decided that this hobby is not for me. I think 90% of my stress comes from cars or things related to cars. My blood pressure is kinda getting high and I never seem to have any time on my days off.
I'm SICK of being stressed out. And I seem to keep collecting projects because I THINK I enjoy fixing them. When in fact it just might be the opposite.

Im planning to keep the 3 I have and sell the 4th (1936 chevy)
Im also going to be selling/trading/giving away everything and anything I can that does not pertain to the 2 caddy's and the RMW.
Believe me its ALOT. the prices of things for sale are what I paid or less.

Some big ticket items are:

305 engine with under 100k miles-$200
700r4 trans (low miles)-$300
1995 4l60e 115k or so -$150 SOLD
Edelbrock aluminum intake -$30
20" wire spoke rims (no tires)-$150
(4) 20" pirelli tires 245/50r20's great tread-$50
(4) American racing rims (BAJA) with hankook tires 9/32 tread-$300
(Justin has dibs, but if no interest anyone else is more than welcome)

4 aluminum Buick rims with 3 ok tires- $50
Moonroof with cut metal roof section trim surround and electronics-$20SOLD
Fwb climate control-$30
BUICK factory radio-$20
91-93 sedan gas tank with newer sending unit $50

Free stuff if you can use it. Either as back ups or for current use I don't wanna see stuff I give away end up in this FS section. If you decide you don't need it pay it forward to someone else.

93-96 tail lightsSOLD
home base (got a couple)
Interior trim
91-93 door panels (grey ROUGH)
91-93 wood trim (Burl wood)
Rmw fenders

Black Cadillac deville front seatsSOLD
Caprice/impala headliner (black)
94-96 caprice upper door panels (plastic and cloth MAB)
probably a ton of other stuff.

Willing to trade only for things I may need that pertain to FWB or RMW.

36 chevy 4 door sedan is for sale: $1500, exactly what I'm in it for ($800 purchase $700 in parts)
Frame and suspension was all sandblasted and rust protected
Original engine in it
Original trans in it
Have entire dash with gauges
All steering is there
Gas tank is original and NOT leaky
Most of the glass is intact
Original interior is there
Not missing much (few door hinges, glove box glass couple other things)
Would make a serious street rod or whatever. Really solid project.
Big dreams/little time deal...

More than welcome to make an appointment and come look/ask/rummage.
I know what I want and what I DONT want, and some of the stuff I do want may easily be persuaded from my hand$ Wink

I'm SICK of being stressed out. And I seem to keep collecting projects because I THINK I enjoy fixing them. When in fact it just might be the opposite.

Let the old guy give you a few tips to relieve stress (#1 is MOST important)
1) Stop chopping wagons in half & welding them back together. You've fine tuned your skills, now let them rest.
2) Keep the 3if you want & for NOW get them to a point where you dont HAVE to do anything to them. Mechanically sound is all thats really required.
3) Stop collecting (if you dont have room or seeing the piles bothers you) OR just let things marinate for a while.
4) Take some time to yourself & RELAX...REALLY....high blood pressure, stress, overscheduling leads down a BAD road.
5) See #4

Bottom line is....this IS the hobby for you.
You know you love it.
You know you need to express yourself.
You know these ideas & desires arent going to stop bouncing around in your head.
You've just made it a part time OCCUPATION instead of HOBBY.

Take a step back & stop the MAJOR mods.
Tell yourself NO when your next BIG idea comes to you.
After damage control, you'll still love it just as much but the stress will be gone
My $0.02

Selling it all....... Almost Empty
PostSubject: Re: Selling it all....... Almost   Selling it all....... Almost EmptyWed Sep 26, 2012 1:19 pm

Thanks for the tips steve. It's not that it's NOT for me. I just mean I feel I'm spread thin with projects. Hence why I wanna sell all the stuff that is FAR from done. The 36 was just something to build and was cheap. My real love lies with a tri-5 with a BBC. Just not in the cards again tight now. So I'm gonna wait and buy something turnkey later (something that doesnt need MODDING .

The parts hoard was not on purpose it was from 3 cars being chopped up and me thinking ahead for future repairs.
Anyone who's been to the Sturbridge address, my fear is ending up with a garage/tent/barn/etc that is similar to that.
I see the same path ahead of me
1932 ford/1934 chevy/1940 willys/1963 nova/dually pick up/daily diver
1996 caddy/1994 caddy/1994 roadmaster/1936 chevy

Your right its a part time job now, I would like to turn it to a part time hobby again and really focus on the black Lac, the wagon was supposed to be practice and a quick mini mod. I'm just overwhelmed now because of 12hr shifts, one of every 2 days off is spent back at work for training, other day is spent sleeping and doing the cars, on top of buying a home, preparing for winter, helping my parents, dealing with a preggo wife, toddler potty training and terrible 2's, maniac dog, and a situation left when the downstairs neighbors moved out.

Relax isn't even in my vocab anymore.
So selling all un-necessary stuff and eliminating work/projects as I can.
Also trying to make space as MOST of this is stored at the old man's place.
Not giving up, just becoming practical. Arrow

Soon as the car comes out the booth I'm going to scoop the Baja's. They're in the budget. The overtime gods were nice to me this month Laughing

Glad you're de-stressting. I think the fact that you *can* chop a wagin in half and put it back together means the hobby *is* for you (pics??), but it's definitely easier to focus on one at a time. And it doesn't get any easier after preggo wife turns into second kid...

Dibs on the radio if it's '94 and CD.
