One of my customers had this clunker sitting in his driveway, and he'z been talking for years about refabing his boat, so i made a deal. I'll have about $2500 in it when i'm all done. Considering he was asking $4000 i think i will do ok. Lot of boat work to be done, but i have all winter to complete it.

01 GMC Yukon, loaded, 5.3, posi, leather, blah blah blah.

Just had new brake calipers and lines, didn't do the rotors though, (WTF dude)

187k miles. No codes so far. The engine has the typical cost piston slap, but runs like a top. I need to change the idler adjuster, its making that sqweek when it shifts, and the belt is shit to.

Its a bit rusty inderneith, i'm going to power wash it, then undercoat the whole thing.

4 low doesn't work, but 4 high and auto work fine.

The ac light just blinks, not sure whats up with that.

Work in progress, i just changed all the fluids, next will be the 4low and have the front end check out for ball joints and tie rods.

Plan is to pull the truck off the road this winter for a refab, she needs it bad, i maintain it regularly, but she starting to show some rust and needs some brake work. I'll run this heap till spring and sell it hopefully for what i got in it.

Those stupid bumpers on these generation all rust the eff out huh? Other than that it looks great in the pics! I think you've made out good already! Finding a buyer won't be hard.

Your not kidding about those bumpers rusting.

Believe it or not, the bumpers are fairly reasonably priced from GM. I think I paid $225 for the rear and got a quote on $330 for the front. At least those are the truck ones anyway.

If you do end up going that route, paint the inside of the bumper when you get it with a spray bed-liner or something like that for extra protection, since they always rust from the inside-out.

Wow dude, I know pics make things look better (I'm sure you're calling it that for a reason), but that is not a beater...lol. You could even get an aftermarket bumper for that from ebay, they're like 150 bucks or so then you just swap the plastics over. They're supposedly just as good as the GM ones. Like Doug said, paint the inside of the bumper first.

That thing will run forever with oil changes...the piston slap thing in my eyes is just an annoying noise and nothing more.

The good thing about those is they do not have the visible rot problems that the pickups have...the extended cabs have the rockers go, the regular cabs will get the rocker problem but not as bad, the Suburbans rot out in that kinda dogleg area right in front of the rear wheels but after the back doors as well as after the wheels...then once in a great while you'll see a Tahoe/Yukon with rust someplace, but it's because there's like 275K on it.

Is it trashed inside? Score!

Oh, and if the AC button flashes when you try to use it, it may be because you're trying to use defrost or heat (floor), I think the AC only works for the dash vents and the rear HVAC on them.

Geez man, nice score. And double nice score on the bumpers! Can't find them down here for the life of me! I've had a couple trucks in need of rear bumpers. Rolling Eyes

I tried the a/c on several different settings. None worked at all. But when all fails read the manual.
