| I have registration and inspection this month, and I am in need of a pair of good used front Rotors and wheel bearings in good shape. The more local the better.
Thank you | |

If they have more meat on them than mine, and can be turned.

| That's weird, when I got the car from Brian he had said it needed wheel bearings, it was squealing/grinding the whole way from Attleboro to Webster. I had replaced the rotors, bearing and calipers with ones from Anthonys 91 (that had been sitting on jack stands for over a year) and all front end components were done except ball joints. They didnt look bad to me... Will it not pass? | |

| You can have the ones from the Marshmallow if you come over and help me put the Vette brakes on... Just had em turned and the pads have maybe 3000 miles on em. | |

The rotors are ok themselves, but there is not enough meat on them to turn without being below spec. The big problem is the bearings and bearing race are junk from the bearing preload not being set correctly, and the pads are at 3/32, and the pad material is cracking.

| Rwd cars get 0 preload I thought? Dont heavy duty trucks and whatnot get preloaded bearings??? I always tighten by hand and then Go to 16ft lbs. Never had a problem with bearings ever. The originals were howling, however the ones replacing them were "used". Got ya on the rotors I don't think I have anything hanging around, but I'll look what's the min thickness you need? | |

| When I did mine, I hand tightened, snugged further with a socket wrench slightly to seat the bearings, then backed it off, then took a torque wrench and did them at 12-14 ft. lbs. Fortunately the hole for the cotter pin was right there where it needed to be. Seems fine, hope I did it right...LOL | |

| I was heading home from Crovo's one afternoon when the front of the car started to vibrate. The next day I lifted the car, pulled the caps, and the cotter pins. I then turned the drivers side to snug, so the rotor would not move by hand, then backed it off a quarter turn. This is how I have done it forever with good results. The problem was that both wheels had to be tightened a full turn or a little more. This made the vibration worse since the damage had been done. I tried replacing the bearings, but the races are just to far gone. | |
