It already has an LT1 Razz

I gotta redo the passenger side because it's so outta shape now that it would be quicker and easier just to replace the whole damn panel, live and learn I guess. Drivers is only at tack welds, need to close the gaps up and then grind and skim coat. I really wanted to use that Eastwood lead alternative. But I really don't have the time to Learn leading on this project. (yet)
Got some great ideas for paint and whatnot too!

That was a poke at everyone telling me to swap in an LT1 Smile

Hey, you'll get it done I know ya will! Its too late to go back now that's why! silent Looking forward to the re-done passenger side if that's the case.

LOL Listen, I've figured it all out. The only way to get a REAL daily driver that you don't want to put any work into other than oil changes and a coat of wax, then you have to buy one of these

or one of these, though this one looks cooler lol Laughing

Mine is too expensive to actually do anything to, like all fords really Rolling Eyes and Chris got that so he could stay out of trouble in the fast LT1 powered cars and have a true daily beater! His passion is his box caddy afaik

Indy I think you are destined to only have cars you want to mod into beautiful customs you dream of, that's why you had the hobby/part time job confusion a few days ago I think.

It's funny you mention that, cuz I've said that to my father and a few others. I was contemplating buying a towncar to drive because It would be a full size, nice leather, but a ford. So a) no mods b)no tinkering c)who cares if it gets salty.

I told the wife I should buy a smart car for comuting cuz it's good on gas. Her response: yeah it's only good on gas until you weld half a chevy to the back end of it Razz
I'm destined to always modify something, I'm just trying to keep it to one at a time.

Sorry Steve, I get carried away... Razz

I seriously cannot wait to get into my house and have a garage. This project has basically been at a standstill because of rain.rain, RAIN!
every day off it's frikken pouring!
Realized the other say when I was out there that the quarters are now open at the tail lights and exhaust fumes may come in, now have to revisit the inside edges with some new metal and some sealant.
Another pic for inquiring minds. Lights are 100% operational:

I'm planning on continuing the curve of the inside fins across. After that no idea. My old man thinks I should get a 56 bumper and extend it in the middle (since it's a 3 part bumper). We'll see. Tail gate is gonna ope only up and down, I disabling the side to side as it rubs a little and I don't want any issues later.

SO COOL Indy! Glad to see it's coming along so nice! Can't wait to see it finished.

I feel you on the rain! Surprised Sad I don't think I'll have the frame done before winter so I have to find storage for it Mad I am NOT leaving it outside. Even if the weather was nice I can't work to provide the extra cash I need for most of the remaining chassis parts until after Christmas Evil or Very Mad

Anyway, keep it up! Arrow

I have my sturdy pop up in the driveway, the 87 body/frame is in there and ain't movin anytime soon! The frame is in a tent I got on clearance for like 80 bucks because I needed it to stay out of the rain while the paint dried. TRUST ME it ain't holding up to ANY snow weight what so ever! Plus, my back yard looks a little ridiculous and I don't want the neighbors to see that mess for too much longer.

Thread jack over, back on track!

Indy that thing looks so cool! I can't get over that.

Got it mostly smoothed out in the rear, I am FAR from a body guy. But I think it's good for a first attempt and a winter bomber, was tinkering with a Lund visor from a truck and after welding some studs to the roof I feel it is way to small for the car. I sectioned the visor 5" to make it fit the roof line, but now it just looks "squeezed" onto the roof. Might revisit it later. Here's the newest pics in self etching primer. Gonna get some high build stuff and re coat once I get the fenders, rear tailpan, and hood work done

cover the primer with some kind of paint if you drive it during the winter. The primer acts like a sponge and if you leave it all winter and paint it in the spring you'll just be sealing in moisture, setting up future rust bubbles. Arrow

Im sure you plan on doing a final skim coat before your finish spray, just adding my 2 cents to the bank.

on another note , it looks F*#%&ing sweet for part time, neighbors can kiss my ass im doing this sh*t in my driveway Twisted Evil

Should research on how you can move the filler neck to behind the tail light, put a small actuator on it to pop open. study

Will be in final paint before winter. This primer was just to see the low spots. It's blotchy in the pic from me running out of paint and the shadows from the trees. I still have a little welding at the d pillars, but I'm getting nervous about time and not having another vehicle ready for snow. I plan on sanding most of this primer off on the quarters and using it as a guide coat, skimming it a final time with light filler and then sanding it out to 320. I can't really "finish" the drivers side until I move the filler. I have all the parts to move it, it's the welding and creating a tunnel behind the damn plastic trim so the gas tube isn't INSIDE the car that's holding me up. I also want to move the hatch pop to behind the tail light so I can shave the tail gate smooth,

There's a DCM woody one that looks real sharp! But he cut the skirts out. I love 56 the most out of the tri-5's.

Lt1 was in the c3's, but starting in 1971 it was the better option. This was basically the L99 of the day.
It was in my mothers blue 71 stingray. My younger brother was street racing a 2001 eclipse and lost control of the car and spun out, got slammed into by a saab. Vette was mangled beyond recognition. My brother was in a coma for like a week and they had to rebuild his pelvis and teach him how to walk again. Hasnt been "right" since.... He function's, but just isn't as sharp. I'll try and get pics of the car this weekend before and after. He's lucky to be alive. I pulled the engine from the wreck and put it in my 40 Plymouth, fired right up. Sold the 40 and my old man needed an engine for the wagon.

I'll try and get pics of the car this weekend before and after. He's lucky to be alive. I pulled the engine from the wreck and put it in my 40 Plymouth, fired right up. Sold the 40 and my old man needed an engine for the wagon.

Shocked Wow he really is lucky to be alive! I can't imagine a crash in a vette Surprised It is cool to see the engine live on though.
