Couldn't stay out the wagon game for long!!!
After trading the 92 away and then it getting crushed I was really sad.

Waited for the right time and that time was this week!
Sold the mini van back to the dealer (what a crap deal!!!)
And found this neglected little baby out in Plainville,MA
$1500 black roadmaster wagon with woodgrain Mad
227,809 miles and some issues here and there., but it's a one owner car, and it's in a loving home now,

Only pic I got right now! Will take some in the AM!

Clean it up, strip the woodgrain trim to chrome, put some ralleys and wide whites on it and drive it as is! Arrow And holy crap, it looks like it has quarters!

Black woody.... *droool*

(I mean the car you perverts!)

Quarter's are junk, big bubble of rot on the drivers d pillar and under the tail gate where the bumper meets the cargo area, Back bumper ripped, front not too hot either!

Anyone know exactly how the belt trim comes off? I know steve removed it off that parts Buick I had, but I didn't pay attention. I want to save it for reinstall. Pine needles are stuffed everywhere!!!! I already pulled the upper trim and it was all full of mud and leaves! I just wanna clean out from under the trim.
I got the tail gate wood stripped, I'd love to put a roll pan on this but I have "IDEAS" about some other things in the rear and I think the big bumper will work better, but if it doesn't happen, roll pan is going on,
Already got shoes on her today! Pics tomorrow. Ive got better ideas in mind but it will be ALOT of work. Not sure I wanna bother yet.

Pulling the chrome trim isn't bad, breaking a couple clips is almost unavoidable. Once you get one Off the rest is easy! I pushed down on them, then popped the bottom straight outward with a panel puller. Then you lift straight up and they're off! I can't recall, but I think the doors have a nut on each end. Rear quarters have one in the door jamb, and some Phillips heads in the wheel well which can be a PITA.

The " Mad " was for the woodgrain, my first choice was that 96 in New Britian, but he had sold it...
I like the wood on the wagons. But this wood needs some sanding lol
It's in pretty good overall shape though, I had to pass a dump truck today in a single lane highway, I punched it and the thing launched to 75 without hesitation... Even with 228k miles! Wife was IMPRESSED. lol

Got tied up doing an inner intake gasket on my brothers 02 grand am today Mad Mad Mad
But managed to get the quarter belt trim off and removed 90% of the woodgrain on the quarter.
Here's a pic from the gas pumps on my way home.

Wood is almost all gone......
Did notice this though. On the drivers side each panel had a small spot of glue in a circle in the middle for no apparent reason. It's NOT vinyl adhesive it's more like headliner glue. Passenger side is clean. Any ideas what the F this is???

Maybe it could have been in an accident and that's how the body shop applied replacement wood or something like that?

Idk. Only had to drive it like that for one night. It's got the rms bumper on it now. Believe me if I could get away with it I'd run 15x5" tires in the front and leave it that way.
But it has to be a daily + winter car so I have better ideas for it anyway.
Oh and if anyone knows off hand what springs i need front and back for a 2-3" drop lmk, this thing has a "mega" ride height.

I really appreciate the help Matt!
Going back over there tomorrow to hopefully tweak this side and start the other one. Needs some serious metal work in the quarters. And I gotta remember/figure out how the tail light sockets work on 56 chevy lights. All I have is the housings

Stay tuned!!!!

Yup, already working it out. I'm contemplating using an actual 56 bumper too. But it might just get some flat metal in a roll pan-esque style

Okie dokie, so I started really working this car and what was supposed to be a bend it out and weld it has turned it's a catastrophe on the passenger side. I made about 6 huge un-necessary cuts, which leads to 6 lines of un-necessary welding.
Now today I said F' it I'd make it up with some glass, but after applying a coat I decided that cutting a new quarter section and welding it in on 3 lines would be better, easier, and stronger.

Began drivers side and it went 80% problem free. When I pulled the quarter away I realized it's somehow glued with this foam sealant around the gas filler. So I have a time bit of work there once I relocated the gas filler,
Tacked and hammered out the quarter. Need to add a small pie cut worth of new metal and do a little patching to the 56 metal.

Retro fit the newer style grounded sockets to the passenger light assembly and decided to quit for the day.
At first I had taped off the windows for protecting but have since gotten lazy and the rear glass is now a little pitted from the welder,
S'ok since I plan to remove the windows over the winter and make this a sedan delivery.
AND after viewing Jim's blue tape thread. May try and attempt a 2 door wagon.... It's not the door work and B pillar relocation I'm nervous about it's how much interior work will need to be done.

He's a few rough and I mean ROUGH shots.

The bumper could go either real 56 bumper stretched out or I could smooth it out like a roll pan. Not sure yet.
A 55/56 dash would be flipping awesome. Although I'd like to modify the original dash to appear in the STYLE of the 50's

I'm planning a delivery style wagon either way.
I've NEVER seen a 4 door panel wagon. Mostly because I dont think they made them ever.
I've seen the alternomads (orange and blue 57 style) but I think they weren't done right, the doors are still stock size and the angle of the window toward the back of the doors are all wrong to me.

I'd really like to get it done BELIEVE me. I'm Driving the caddy everyday and I hate putting the miles on her.
Can't wait to bomb around in this Kustom!
Who knows Someday it might be the first car in the club to get a BIG BLOCK!!!!! Shocked

You sure you don't want an LT1 swap!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?/1/?!??!?!?!?! Razz

I can't wait to see this on the road! The quarters are looking pretty flippin sweet. A bit of body work on them and it'll look right at home next to the 55 I saw at the cruise night earlier tonight.

You mean LS1 swap???
It already has an LT1 Razz

I gotta redo the passenger side because it's so outta shape now that it would be quicker and easier just to replace the whole damn panel, live and learn I guess. Drivers is only at tack welds, need to close the gaps up and then grind and skim coat. I really wanted to use that Eastwood lead alternative. But I really don't have the time to Learn leading on this project. (yet)
Got some great ideas for paint and whatnot too!
