Hi Folks:

I heard about the forum from a guy whose name I can't remember now (sorry about that!)

I had my wagon parked on York Beach last weekend and he came up and introduced himself. Lots of great info here. I can't wait to dig in.

A couple of quick questions:

Any idea who makes a decent floormat with the snaps?

Anybody have a spare passenger side grab handle in tan? The spring is broken in mine and keeps cracking my wife on the head whenever she gets out.

Here's the Roadmaster in all its beach-hauling glory:

Welcome to the forum. There's lots of knowledge, and members ready to lend a hand here. Looks like you've got a beautiful wagon there. RM wagons are the best B wagon in the bunch IMO. Tell us a bit more about yourself and your light driftwood metallic beach cruiser.

Welcome to the forum! Very Happy

I grew up with my dad calling these cars a "beach-wagon", basically anything with wood on the sides, that was his term for them. So it's nice to see one living up to it's namesake! haha

The wood actually looks nicer/deeper/richer than normal on your car, did you wax it or something?

Welcome! I noticed that too Matt. It looks more natural! Very nice wagon indeed!

Thanks guys. I definitely keep it pretty clean, but all I did to the woodgrain was wash it.

The rust in the driver's side quarter drives me nuts. Any advice on fixing that?

I've owned a bunch of B body cars in the past. I had an '83 LeSabre that brilliantly caught fire on 290 at 240,000 miles, a 1986 Electra Wagon with a factory Delco CB radio, and just before this car, I had a gorgeous 1983 Pontiac Parisienne with 79,000 miles that I purchased from the original owner. I would've kept it longer, but I have two small kids and they both need shoulder belts in the rear.

I also just sold a 1968 Buick Riviera. You could say I have a thing for full-size GM cars.

Great to meet you, Bill. I'm glad you mentioned the forum. I probably wouldn't have found it on my own.

The LeSabre was a $600 shitbox I bought from my brother-in-law. The exhaust bracket broke right at the manifold and I was on my way to getting it fixed. Apparently, the exhaust gasses were passing right past the negative battery cable and melted the insulation off and started a fire under the hood.

Exciting way to start they day at 85 mph in the fast lane. My wife sent me to work with a pie that morning and when I told her what happened, the only thing she asked me was "Did you get the pie?" Very Happy

The Parisienne was a great car. I replaced the headliner and wrote a blog post about it here: yankeedriver.wordpress.com/2010/08/28/fix-your-saggy-headliner/

Nice collection of cahs you've had there- I SWEAR I've seen that Parisienne before, either for sale online or in person. Great job on the headliner, better than the staples/upholstery screw method.

Nice Riviera too, last of the GM "X-frame" cars.

We need a drooling emoticon here! I wish you still had that Pontiac! That is a very nice car! The headliner is something I need to do but have feared. I'll have to use your article when I do mine though.

Don't hesitate to do it yourself. If you've got rudimentary skills with hand tools, it's well within your abilities to do.

The trickiest part is getting the shell out of the car. Beyond that, it's a piece of cake.

If you need help, shoot me a note. I'd be happy to lend a hand.

In fact, if you have the maroon interior in that coupe that's in your avatar, I think have enough material left over to do it. I bought about twice as much as I needed in case I messed it up.

Sad The saddest thing about cutting that maroon car up was the perfect headliner. I have a blue interior in my 87 project car, but thanks for the offer! Arrow
