Got the harness the other day, so I gathered up my parts, got everything down to my buddies shop and we started tearing into it.
Before....

Now....

Hit a small road block as we are trying to get a broken exhaust manifold bolt out of one of the heads.Thought that only happened with the damn iron heads. Surprised Can't Heat up the aluminum to much to get it out. Dammit.

Do you have, or can you borrow a Mig-welder? Weld a nut onto the broken bolt & take it right out. This works even better with aluminum heads. I do this all the time, takes a little practice, but beats the heck out of any other method! cheers

It's broken flush or maybe even a little bit inside the head. Trying one more time to get an EZ out in the bolt then gonna have to try and weld onto it somehow without messing the head up at all. And when it's finally done, yes Bill, you can drive it. Twisted Evil

x2 on the weld. I have done it many times with good results. Just hold a 3/8 nut against the head. Start the weld bud in the center right on the broken bolt and build it outward coming in contact with the nut in a circular motion so the weld will take hold of the bolt, and repeat.

My first chance to touch will (hopefully) be this weekend. Gonna borrow a welder and go for it. Bought some more parts this week.

Oh it's just your average automotive repair buisness. I just happend to notice the pics of the blazer are taken outside of the shop. Also as I look up at the pics up top I now realize they are inside that same shop.
Just one of those small world instances.

It sure is. I stopped by this afternoon and the engine is in. Now I gotta find time to figure out the "plug and play" wiring that for some reason doesn't plug OR play. lol And yes, that is a 2wd blazer. Took me a long time to find it as well. Did they mention anything special about the engine in that 9c1 you bought?

Yes I know the story about the motor I've known the people involved with that car 15+ years. I have know Dave N. Tricia P. Jimmy H. then thru them George and tony P. Since I was about 14 years old and asking every dumb car question I wanted to know the answer to.

Excellent update. I love progress. Should have it running soon huh? How's the harness situation working out so far?

Thanks, Brian. There's an oval shaped plug with ten wires (it is the plug to the far right in the first pic near the washer fluid reservoir) that came on the harness that isn't in my truck. The guy I bought the truck from said he changed both the engine harness and the interior harness to a 1994 S10, so when I ordered the harness I assumed a 97 LT1 to 94 S10 harness would be good. I gotta go to Hollands and get the female end of the plug and chase the wires so I know what they go to. Gotta work a ton between now and my florida trip in july, so the project might stall out for a little while. Hopefully take an afternoon off and figure it out, then hopefully George can hook me up while I'm in florida.

Sounds like a solve-able PITA. GM made it not easy for us to modify their stuff. Reminds me of the debate over tbi and lt1 cornering lamp harnesses not too long ago. They have different connectors and aren't really compatible IIRC. Good luck with it tho. Keep up the updates as you go.
